With Games hosts Scotland leading 19-16 against Malaysia and 1:18 remaining in the match, Kyle Jimenez looked to be out of options as he was pinned in the corner furthest away from the basketball.
He was under pressure and struggling to control the ball properly, with the shot clock running down.
With under a second remaining on the clock, Jimenez decided to try his luck.
He launched a one-handed shot from the very corner of the court which incredibly went into the net, leaving plenty of open-mouthed faces in the SEC Centre.
Initially, the effort was waived off, seemingly for a shot-clock violation.
However, after review, the stunning effort stood to send Scotland to 21 points, which was the target to win the match and reach the semi-finals.
”Wow, how did Kyle Jimenez do that? That was simply sensational,” said commentator Dan Strange.
”Kyle Jimenez with a shot from heaven. That was absolutely world-class. I don’t know where that came from. Scotland play their way into the semi-final with some absolute magic.”
Co-commentator Martin Henlan added: ”That is a remarkable way to end the game. Kyle Jimenez with a prayer, and what does he get? The game winner!”
Scotland couldn’t conjure up more magic in the semi-finals as they were beaten by Australia.
But they did bounce back to triumph against New Zealand to claim a bronze medal.
Scotland won 18-16 to bag their first men's basketball medal, four years after finishing fourth at Birmingham 2022.
England play Australia in the final on Wednesday evening.
