Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics: Switzerland's Franjo von Allmen and Tanguy Nef power to combined gold as Marco Odermatt makes podium

Tanguy Nef and Franjo von Allmen powered Switzerland to gold in the men's team combined on Monday, as Marco Odermatt missed out on gold despite his strong downhill run. Manuel Feller and Vincent Kriechmayr clocked the exact same time as Odermatt and Lois Meillard - 2:45.03 across the downhill and slalom legs. It marks a second gold for Von Allmen, who powered to downhill victory on Saturday.

Switzerland duo Tanguy Nef and Franjo von Allmen won gold in the men's team combined event at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics on Monday.
Nef powered his nation to victory with a stunning run of 51.82 in the slalom, after Von Allmen finished with the fourth-fastest overall time in the downhill leg.
And TNT Sports expert Charlie Guest felt Nef benefited from having "nothing to lose" in his run.
"On the World Cup tour he’s had brilliant first runs, he’s led after the first run, had second runs which he’s fired through the list on, but he’s never put both together," Guest said.
"Today he had that one run, one opportunity and projected his team into that gold medal position."
The Austrian team of Manuel Feller and Vincent Kriechmayr clocked the exact same time as Switzerland's Marco Odermatt and Loic Meillard to win joint silver.
Raphael Haaser and Michael Matt, also of Austria, fell just short of the podium, with no bronze medal awarded as a result of the two silver medal-winning teams.

It marked the continuation of a stellar Monday for Switzerland, who took gold in the women's slopestyle earlier in the day through Mathilde Gremaud - who upset the likes of Team GB's Kirsty Muir and China's Eileen Gu.
Monday's victory also continued a fine few days for Von Allmen, who stormed to men's downhill gold on Saturday - once again upsetting compatriot and favourite Odermatt.
Odermatt had skied himself and Meillard into contention with the third-fastest downhill run early on Monday, but his team-mate struggled in the slalom section, posting a 15th-fastest time of 52.95.

Italy looked poised for gold after Giovanni Franzoni's leading downhill run of 1:51.80, but as the last man to ski the slalom, his team-mate Alex Vinatzer buckled under the pressure in a dramatic finish with the third-slowest run - culminating in finishing seventh place overall.
In the TNT Sports studio, Guest dissected what exactly went wrong for Vinatzer.
She said: "Objectively, he’s on these gates. It’s neat, it’s tidy. There’s no huge error.
"But what he’s not doing, he’s not active through the turns, he’s not moving. His legs are sort of sitting in the turns.
"In slalom skiing you want to be moving from red to blue, from left to right, to carry that momentum down the hill. You’ve got to create that pace, you can’t rely on gravity to do it for you."
