Simone Biles lands third gold of games in vault after stellar display of dominance at Paris 2024

Simone Biles took another sensational gold at Paris 2024, this time in the artistic gymnastics vault, adding to her victories in the all-around and team events from earlier this week. It was another demonstration from the American great, as she showed her superiority with two vaults of the highest complexity and quality. Rebeca Andrade of Brazil came second, while there was also a bronze for USA.

Simone Biles stormed to an astonishing third gold medal at Paris 2024 as she produced more brilliance in the individual women's vault final.
Biles' two vaults saw her soar to the top of the standings as her nearest competitor, Brazil's Rebeca Andrade, couldn't quite get close enough despite a fine display of her own, which saw her take silver.
For Biles, her redemption Games take on an even more golden hue, following her two previous golds in the French capital in the all-around and the team event.
Her second vault especially was a thing of wonder: a backflip, two and a half somersaults in pike position followed by a solid landing, leaving her to brandish her now trademark smile to all those inside the Bercy venue.
That came after a just-as-impressive opening vault that hinted at the difficulty her rivals would have in overcoming her - a task that once again proved impossible.
Coming in third was Jade Carey as the United States made it two medals in the event.

Speaking afterwards, Biles said: "I definitely did [have fun] and I am super excited that I landed my vaults really well and successfully, so I could not be more proud of myself for the work that I have put in to get to this point.
"I love that the other athletes push me to be my best and that we are all out there competing to the best of our abilities."
This latest gold for Biles sees her go further into the pantheon of Olympic greats.
