Asher-Smith, 30, will form part of an England team also featuring the recently-crowned world indoor 1500m champion Georgia Hunter Bell.
The Commonwealth Games will be shown live on TNT Sports and HBO Max from July 23 to August 2.
"You are going to see a lot of talented athletes come out and perform from all across the Commonwealth and I think we're also going to have a lot of Scottish newcomers, so you should definitely come and support,” Asher-Smith said.
Asher-Smith will renew her rivalry with Saint Lucia’s Alfred, the 100m Olympic champion and 200m silver medallist from the Paris 2024 Games.
Alfred is seeking to improve on the 100m silver she won at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and is looking forward to returning to Scotland having previously claimed a world indoor title in Glasgow.
"The Commonwealth title is very much one I would like to add as I try to build a legacy so that when I do one day step away from the track, people will say I accomplished everything I possibly could,” the 24-year-old said.

Asher-Smith and Alfred could lock horns in the 100m and 200m finals, which will be held on July 28 and July 31, respectively.
On the men’s side, the sprint field will be headlined by Jamaica’s Oblique Seville, the reigning world 100m champion.
Seville is the first Jamaican to hold the title of ‘the fastest man on the planet’ since Usain Bolt. The men’s 100m final is on July 28.
Elsewhere, there will be plenty of home favourites for the crowd to cheer on at Scotstoun. Scotland trio Jake Wightman, Josh Kerr and Neil Gourley are all set to fight for the medals in the 1500m, while Eilish McColgan will make a brief return to the track.
Kerr, who last month won his third world title, will also attempt to break the men’s mile world record this summer.

"The Commonwealth Games is such a special event because the Para events really help with publicity and inspiring the next generation," said Breen, who is a two-time Commonwealth champion, world champion and four-time Paralympian.
"Glasgow was my first Commonwealth Games when I was just 17-18 and now to be going back at the age of 30 is really exciting."
According to Phil Batty, chief executive of the Games, there are 26,000 tickets remaining, with the velodrome and pool almost sold out.
