Day seven of the athletics at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games should be a memorable one with four finals, including Team GB's European record holder Matthew Hudson-Smith in the men's 400m. The morning session will feature Team GB's George Mills, Patrick Dever and Sam Atkin in the 5000m. There will also be finals in the women's pole vault, men's discus and men's 3000m steeplechase.

A dramatic day six of the athletics at the Stade de France saw USA's Cole Hocker clinch gold ahead of Team GB's Josh Kerr in the 1500m final.

In a race where Josh Kerr and Jakob Ingebrigtsen were touted as gold medal contenders, the American snuck through on the inside to snatch gold from Kerr. Ingebrigtsen came fourth overall, missing out on the medals as USA's Yared Nuguse clinched bronze.

"I got beaten by the better man on the day and I have to walk away from these championships with my head held high,” Kerr said after winning silver.

The morning sessions saw Team GB's Georgia Bell and Laura Muir qualify for the semi-final in the women's 1500m. Brit Revee Walcott-Nolan will head into the women's 1500m repechage on Wednesday, August 7, after failing to earn automatic qualification.

George Mills, after missing out on qualifying for the final in the 1500m, will head into the 5000m heats alongside Patrick Dever and Sam Atkin to qualify for the 5000m final.

In the men's 800m heats Team GB's Elliot Giles, Ben Pattison and Max Burgin will also race to qualify for the semi-finals.

Team GB's Alastair Chalmers will go in the 400m hurdle semi-final whilst Tade Ojora will compete in the 110m hurdle semi-final.

In the men's 400m final, the European record holder Matthew Hudson-Smith will feature alongside a star-studded lineup.

Women's Pole Vault Final

The women's pole vault will kick off the finals at 17:15 BST, where reigning world and Olympic champion Katie Moon will shoot for her second Olympic title.

She will have hot competition from Australia's Nina Kennedy, who shared the gold with Moon at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest last year.

Team GB hopefuls Molly Caudery and Holly Bradshaw will not compete after failing to qualify for the finals.

Men's Discus final

The men's discus final will kick off at 19:25 with the world lead Mykolas Alekna of Lithuania shooting for gold. The 21-year-old currently holds the world record after throwing 74.35m in Oklahoma earlier this year.

The world record holder will face world No. 2 Kristjan Ceh from Slovenia and world No. 3 Matthew Denny of Australia.

Men's 400m final

In the men's 400m final Hudson-Smith, the European champion, will face off against world No. 1Quincy Hall at 20:20 UK time.

Hudson-Smith finished ahead of Hall at the Budapest 2023 World Athletics Championships where he clinched silver.

Eurosport's Iwan Thomas said: "I honestly think he'll be touching near to the world record, he's in such great form.

"He's guaranteed to win as long as he runs smart. As long as he runs within himself and doesn't get carried away with the occasion."

Men's 3000m Steeplechase final

In the men's 3000m steeplechase Moroccan Soufiane El Bakkali will target gold. Currently the reigning Olympic gold medallist and back-to-back World Champion, he will be the man to beat in the final.

He will face off against firm rival and Ethiopian Lamecha Girma, who holds the world record over the distance, running 7:52.11 at the Paris Diamond League in 2023.

The 23-year-old finished second behind El Bakkali at the delayed Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021 and at the World Championships in 2022 and 2023. He will look to move ahead of El Bakkali to clinch his first gold in the event.
