Paris 2024: What athletics events are on today? When are the finals? When are Josh Kerr and Jakob Ingebrigtsen racing?

Day six of the Athletics at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games promises to be fiery with five finals including the highly contested men's 1500m where Team GB's world champion, Josh Kerr, will face off against the reigning Olympic champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen. Lizzie Bird features in the women's 3000m steeplechase. Meanwhile, Daryll Neita and Dina Asher-Smith will compete in the women's 200m final.

A dramatic day five of the athletics at the Stade de France closed with Team GB's Keely Hodgkinson winning the 800m whilst Mondo Duplantis vaulted to gold with another world record of 6.25m.

On Tuesday, August 6, there will be plenty more action to keep all entertained throughout the day, with the climax in the evening session, where we will witness some of the most hotly contested finals of the games so far.

The day will start in the morning session where Brits Laura Muir, Georgia Bell and Revee Walcott-Nolan will go in the women's 1500m heats.

In the 400m repechage Victoria Ohuruogu will attempt to advance to the semi-finals after failing to gain an automatic qualification out of the heats.

The evening session will kick off with Team GB's Charlie Dobson and European record holder Matthew Hudson-Smith featuring in the men's 400m semi-finals.

Lina Nielsen and Jessie Knight will also feature in the women's 400m hurdle semi-finals.

Women's Hammer Throw Final

The first final of the evening will be the women's hammer throw final which will start at 6:57pm BST. Ranked No. 1 in the world and current reigning world champion Canada's Camryn Rogers will shoot for gold against reigning Olympic champion Anita Wlodarczyk and Team USA's World Championship medalist DeAnna Price.

USA's Annette Nneka Echikunwoke finished a close second to Rogers in their qualifying while Finland's Krista Tervo topped the table with a new national record of 74.79m.

Men's Long Jump Final

Team GB's Jacob Fincham-Dukes will feature in the men's long jump final at 19.15 BST when he will face the world's top ranked jumper Miltiadis Tentoglou, who represents Greece.

Fincham-Dukes managed to qualify after jumping 7.96m in the last round of qualification to progress to the final.

Greece's Tentoglou qualified with the longest jump of 8.32m, followed by Czech Republic's Radek Juska who also secured automatic qualification after jumping a season’s best of 8.15m.

Men's 1500m final

The men's 1500m final will start at 19.50 BST and will host one of the biggest mashups with reigning world champion Josh Kerr facing reigning Olympic champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen.

Throughout the year on the athletics circuit their rivalry has been fierce - Kerr beat Ingebrigtsen early in the season at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene Oregon.

Both Kerr and Ingebrigtsen qualified with ease through the heats and the semi-finals. Ahead of the final Team GB's athletics captain had a warning for the Norwegian.

“There have been a lot of words over the last 12 months, even two years. I’m looking to settle that on Tuesday night,” said Kerr to reporters.

“I have been picturing this for my whole life. I will put on a performance in front of millions of people. And give our sport the best crowd experience – that’s my job. Jakob will try to win, I will try to win, and we will see who wins.”

Women's 3000m Steeplechase

The women's 3000m steeplechase will see Team GB's Lizzie Bird head into the final at 20:14 BST. Coming off the back of her bronze medal at the European Championships she will eye another place on the podium at the Stade de France.

In a qualifying race that came down to a photo finish, BirDd had to dip on the line to qualify for the final.

Speaking to British Athletics, Bird commented: “I was a bit worried when I finished that I hadn’t made it. I was expecting to have to run fast to qualify. I think with a smoother race I can run a bit quicker."

Bird will have tough competition as she faces the world record holder Beatrice Chepkoech, who won silver at last year's World Championships in Budapest. At the same championships Chepkoech was beaten by Winfred Yavi who clinched gold by a whole four seconds.

Women's 200m Final

The climax of the evening will be in the women's 200m final at 20:40BST, where Brits Dina Asher-Smith and Daryll Neita will both be shooting for a spot on the podium.

Asher-Smith will be looking to prove something after failing to advance to the final in the 100m.

They will face the newly crowned women's 100m champion Julian Alfred of Saint Lucia who clocked one of the fastest times over the distance in qualifying.

Another threat comes from USA's Gabby Thomas who ran the fastest time in the semi-final round where she clocked 21.86s.
