‘WE PLAYED WELL BATTING FIRST,’ SAID BUTTLER
England skipper Jos Buttler felt his side played well to post a target of 218-5 which the West Indies hit with an over spare.
“I thought it was an excellent wicket and we got off to a really good start with (Phil) Salt and (Will) Jacks putting pressure on them,” said Buttler.
“I thought we needed at least 220. They played extremely well and put us under a lot of pressure.
“It was just trying to do something different (with fielding positions) and trying to drag their attention away somehow.
“We thought about trying to create something with people in different areas and take the focus away.
“We had to manage Jamie Overton’s workload during the series so unfortunately he couldn’t bowl today.
“I thought we played pretty well, it was a good performance, batting first to put up a good score and put the West Indies under pressure.”
Buttler also commented on the performance of 20-year-old Rehan Ahmed who took three wickets in one over to give England hope.
“The wrist spinners are like gold-dust in T20 cricket in terms of wicket takers,” added Buttler.
“I thought he was very brave today with the way he bowled. He got us back into the game with that one over where we created those chances.
“He’s a young guy full of confidence and I can see him playing a big part in the future.”
WEST INDIES RECORD HIGHEST RUN CHASE THANKS TO OPENERS
West Indies openers Shai Hope and Evin Lewis scored quick half-centuries as their side recorded the highest run chase at St Lucia.
England set the joint highest international T20 score at the ground after an impressive 218-5 thanks to half-centuries by Phil Salt and Jacob Bethell which looked to set them on course to make it 4-0 in the series.
However, on a good pitch West Indies hit their stride as Lewis smashed 68 runs from 31 balls – including four fours and seven sixes.
He was joined at the opposite end by Hope whose 54 runs came from 24 balls as the pair put on a stand of 136 for the first wicket off nine overs.
However, it was in the ninth over that England hit with Rehan Ahmed taking three wickets in as many balls.
West Indies wobbled with Ncholas Pooran falling for a duck, while Shimron Hetmyer also fell for just seven.
With the home side’s run rate increasing skipper Rovman Powell steadied the ship with a vital 38 runs from 23 balls.
Eventually Sherfane Rutherford saw his country over the line with two sixes in the penultimate over to seal victory.
England had already secured the T20 series victory and lead 3-1 going into the fifth and final T20 in the series on Sunday in St Lucia.
WEST INDIES WIN 221-5 (RUTHERFORD 29, CHASE 9). overs: 19
Lots of pressure on Moseley who needs to restrict West Indies to one run per ball.
Chase aims for the boundary, but a covering fielder is on hand to keep the shot at two runs.
It's another four attempt which Overton stops on the boundary with a diving save.
Rutherford then catches one and sends it for six to relieve tension around St Lucia.
A powerful drive from Rutherford sends the ball for another six to win the match
WEST INDIES 204-5 (RUTHERFORD 16, CHASE 5). overs: 18
Curran starts the over with a dot ball before Rutherford then hits one in the air. However, the ball lands right in the middle of four England fielders.
Another single results in West Indies bringing up their 200. Chase adds two more as the hosts close in on this target.
15 runs needed from 12 balls.
WICKET! WEST INDIES 198-5 (RUTHERFORD 14, CHASE 0). overs: 17
Turner is back into attack for England from the Media Centre end.
With the third ball of the over Powell is judged out on the field for LBW. He reviews the decision but starts walking off before the review is complete.
A first international wicket for Turner.
West Indies still need 21 from 18 balls, it's not completely over yet.
WEST INDIES 195-4 (RUTHERFORD 12, Powell 38). overs: 16
Mahmood with his final over of this match with West Indies needing 28 runs from 30 balls.
West Indies are in no rush as they are comfortable with this run chase hitting the odd single during this over.
Just the four scored in Mahmood's final over.
WEST INDIES 191-4 (RUTHERFORD 10, Powell 36). overs: 15
Mousley is back bowling for England but West Indies would need a major collapse not to win this one.
It's an over with a single off every ball.
WICKET! WEST INDIES 185-4 (RUTHERFORD 7, Powell 33). overs: 14
Hetmyer lofts the second ball of the over high into the air and Livingstone is underneath it to take a fine catch.
However, the England fielder is in clear pain after taking the catch and remains on the floor.
Ahmed has taken three of the four wickets, but this is his final over of the game.
Rutherford also goes for the high shot and despite two fielders rushing in the ball just creeps over the ropes.
The shot has hurt Rutherford and he receives some treatment. The ball is being changed with West Indies needing 41 off 38 balls.
Powell has led from the front and finishes the over with another six as West Indies close in on victory.
WEST INDIES 172-3 (HETMYER 7, Powell 27). overs: 13
England are attacking to try and get West Indies back onto the back foot.
Mahmood limits the hosts to singles off the first three balls and then a dot ball.
Two wides in the over has cost England slightly, but they have asked questions of the batters.
Powell smacks the last ball of the over away for six.
WEST INDIES 161-3 (HETMYER 5, Powell 20). overs: 12
Powell can sense victory for his team and he smashes the opening ball of the 12th over four six.
The West Indies are well on their required run-rate. After scoring some singles Powell then picks out the spin bowling and guides the ball for four.
WEST INDIES 147-3 (HETMYER 4, Powell 7). overs: 11
Leading by example Powell catches the bowling of Turner well and scores a four.
West Indies need 76 runs from 58 balls and are still in control.
A miss-field by Overton results in one run turning into two for the W Indies.
WICKETS! WEST INDIES 137-3 (HETMYER 1, Powell 1). overs: 10
The opening ball of the 10th over sees Lewis caught by Mousley from the balling of Ahmed.
That brings Lewis' innings of 68 runs from 31 balls to an end - including seven sixes and four fours. Pooran is next to the crease.
From the following ball Hope is out following a run out which sees Livingstone directly hit the stumps with the ball.
It's three wickets from as many balls as Pooran falls for a duck with Ahmed's bowling forcing Pooran to hit the ball onto his own stumps.
The over by Ahmed could have changed this entirw game from one where West Indies looked in control.

WEST INDIES 136-0 (lewis 68, hope 54). overs: 9
Lewis completes his half-century and Curran is being hit around the ground as well.
Another four for Lewis results in the ball just falling away from the fielder. However, England have no chance with the following ball which is hit down the ground and 83 metres long for six.
Everything Lewis is hitting is heading for the boundary as it's another six which flies off the edge of the bat.
A frustrated ball by Curran flies wide as England have conceded 52 runs off the last 11 balls.
Another edge from Lewis sees Buttler block the ball with his chin to save another boundary.
WEST INDIES 113-0 (lewis 47, hope 53). overs: 8
Lewis is also starting to make his move flicking over for two and then smashing a six in consecutive balls.
The following ball is controlled between the fielders and trickles over the boundary for four to bring up the hosts' 100.
Lewis then hits a six out of the ground and into the hill surrounding the ground.
Livingstone has been torn apart in his opening over of this match.
The bowler sends a wide and from the resulting ball Lewis hits his third six in the over.
WEST INDIES 86-0 (lewis 21, hope 53). overs: 7
West Indies have recorded their best power play figures for this series.
Hope finds the bounary for another six and has now scored 48 off 21 balls which has put the hosts in with a great chance.
A second boundary of the sixth over for Hope brings up his 50, this time with a four.
WEST INDIES 69-0 (lewis 21, hope 41). overs: 6
Mousley sees his opening ball of the match smashed away for six by Hope who has given the West Indies exactly that.
Salt feels that he has stumped Lewis but the decision is being reviewed. However, Salt's foot is grounded inside the crease when the wicket was broken so it is not out.
Lewis responds by leaning back and sending the ball back over the long on for six.
WEST INDIES 56-0 (lewis 15, hope 34). overs: 5
Curran is bowling his first power-play over of the T20 series in West Indies.
The hosts are really going for this and a lovely shot by Hope results in another four and brings up his side's 50.
West Indies are just two runs behind where England were at the same stage.
Lewis almost finds the boundary himself, but Mousley is quickly across to stop the ball reaching.
It's another good over for the West Indies.
WEST INDIES 44-0 (lewis 11, hope 27). overs: 4
Mahmood felt that he almosthad the wicket of Lewis by LBW with the first ball of the fourth over.
However, the ball was flying over the wickets and the on-field decision is not out.
The second ball of the over is a leg by, before more leg by runs sees the ball fly behind for four.
Hope is hitting his stride and Bethell can't quite prevent an aggressive shot reaching the boundary.
England are worried as Hope flicks another ball away for his second successive four of this over.
WEST INDIES 30-0 (lewis 11, hope 18). overs: 3
Lewis starts the third over by picking off the bowling of Turner and sending the ball for six.
England respond by bringing in some fielding changes.
West Indies have a current run-rate of 11.72 so England will not be worried by the odd six.
Hope also gets off the mark with a powerful drive through the offside which flies over the boundary for four.
A slightly fortunate inside edge by Hope as he misjudges the ball iresultsn the ball going behind for four.
Hope then sends over a six and then a four to complete a big over for the hosts.

Mahmood is now bowling for England.
Starting where his countryman left off the bowler has four dot balls is a very tight spell of bowling.
Hope is getting frustrated and by the fifth ball he tries to slog the ball, but completely misses.
It's a maiden over by Mahmood.
WEST INDIES 5-0 (lewis 4, hope 0). overs: 1
An excellent opening over for bowler Josh Turner. Despite his first ball being wide the resulting four are dots.
The final ball temps Lewis with a sliced shot which is just out of the reach of Overton and goes for four.
WEST INDIES READY TO BAT
We are getting back underway and West Indies have a huge target of 219 to hit on a good pitch
WICKET! ENGLAND 218-5 (BETHELL 62, CURRAN 24). OVERS: 20
McCoy is given the task of limiting England during the final over of their innings.
The field are all on the boundary and they limit England to singles and a two in the opening three balls of the final over.
Bethell then runs a quick single allowing Pooran the opportunity to throw at the wickets on the other side to no avail.
Not finished Curran sits back and waits for the ball before firing it over the boundary for six.
England look for every run and Curran is run out from the final ball by Hetmyer.
The final target for West Indies to hit is 219.
ENGLAND 206-4 (BETHELL 59, CURRAN 16). OVERS: 19
Joseph has proved a vital role for West Indies this evening.
However, his attempted corker is caught well by Curran who opens the 19th over with a six bringing up England's 200.
Some tight bowling from Joseph after that opening ball limits England somewhat.
ENGLAND 194-4 (BETHELL 59, CURRAN 6). OVERS: 18
McCoy has been brought back in to bowl in a bid to try and slow England's current run-rate.
The visitors are patient with four singles and a wide from the over. However, with the final ball Bethell unleashes a shot for six.
ENGLAND 183-4 (BETHELL 51, CURRAN 4). OVERS: 17
Bethell is patient and then fires one off the bottom of his bat which flies over the boundary for six.
The England batsman then repeats the trick on the opposite side of the field.
With the fourth ball of the over Bethell sends one back down the ground for a third six in as many balls to bring up his 50.
He then takes a single to bring Curran to the strikers' end for the final ball of the over.
The ball clips Curran's foot for a dot ball.
ENGLAND 164-4 (BETHELL 32, CURRAN 4). OVERS: 16
Joseph is back bowling, but following an opening dot ball Bethell then picks out the gap in the field for another four.
England finish a tight 16th over with two runs repeated in the last two balls.
WICKET! ENGLAND 155-4 (BETHELL 27, CURRAN 0). OVERS: 15
Bethell is starting to gather momentum as Motie is dispatched down the pitch for four.
The next ball is caught superbly by Bethell who smashes the ball over the boundary for six, with the ball predicted to fly 88 metres.
Livingstone then tries to hit the boundary but his shot is straight into the hands of Hetmyer. Livingstone will be disappointed to depart on four.
ENGLAND 142-3 (BETHELL 16, LIVINGSTONE 2). OVERS: 14
Bethell gets off to the perfect start in the 14th over hitting Chase for four off the first ball.
Some tight bowling by Chase results in some singles, before Bethell scoops one over the wicket-keeper for four.
WICKET! ENGLAND 131-3 (BETHELL 6, LIVINGSTONE 1). OVERS: 13
Buttler is really hitting his stride as the yorker in length ball is brought back up by the batsman and over the boundary.
Buttler tries the reverse sweep again, but this time the ball flies to Chase who hold onto it. Buttler is out for 38.
Livingstone is into the crease and gets off the mark with a quick single.
It's a good over for Motie with a wicket and England held at a run rate of 10 an over.
ENGLAND 123-2 (BETHELL 5, BUTTLER 32). OVERS: 12
A sneaky shot from Bethell as he flicks the ball up over the wicket-keeper but it lacks the pace to run for four.
The single brings Buttler back to the crease and he guides the ball over the boundary for six.
Copying the move of Bethell the England skipper scoops the ball up for four.
His next shot is driven back down the wicket for a single to end a good over.
ENGLAND 110-2 (BETHELL 4, BUTTLER 20). OVERS: 11
Motie is back to bowl this 11th over and England are happy with some quick singles early on.
Four singles, a wide and two dot balls from this over eases England's run rate
ENGLAND 105-2 (BETHELL 2, BUTTLER 18). OVERS: 10
With the first ball of his innings Bethell gets off the mark.
However, England are still struggling with the off-spin of Chase with Butler limited to singles.
WICKET! ENGLAND 102-2 (SALT 55, BUTTLER 16). OVERS: 9.2
West Indies still can't find a way through and Chase comes in with off-spin.
Salt then spins and catches one on the edge of his bat and wicket keeper Pooran claims the ball. Salt looks frustrated to depart on 55.
The players take a drinks break as Bethell comes to the crease.
ENGLAND 101-1 (SALT 55, BUTTLER 16). OVERS: 9
Hosein is back with the ball from the Media Centre end.
Salt looked out for a moment after hitting one short of the boundary, but McCoy just misses the ball with his dive.
The West Indies man knows immediately he's missed it but the third umpire still reviews.
Buttler is also hitting his stride as he takes four and then a six to bring England up for 100.
ENGLAND 88-1 (SALT 54, BUTTLER 4). OVERS: 8
Skipper Rovman Powell has taken the ball himself as West Indies search for a way to break England's dominance.
Salt shows no mercy as he smashes the ball directly back down the ground and the umpire has to move his leg quickly.
The opener follows that with another four to bring up his 50. It's the fourth of his T20 career.
ENGLAND 77-1 (SALT 45, BUTTLER 2). OVERS: 7
Salt gives Motie a nice welcome to crease by hitting the bowler for six off his opening ball.
The opener is really flying as he picks off a leg stump ball and slides it away for another six.
After being hit for sixes off his first two balls Motie responds with two dots and two singles.
ENGLAND 63-1 (SALT 32, BUTTLER 1). OVERS: 6
Hosein starts the sixth over with some tight bowling resulting in England's run rate reducing to 10.3 per over.
Buttler gets himself off the mark with a steady single just knocking the ball into space.
Salt is having none of it, picking off a poor ball he smashes the ball over the fielder's head for six.
WICKET! ENGLAND 54-1 (SALT 23, BUTTLER 0). OVERS: 5
It's another beauty from Jacks as he hits Joseph for six in the opening ball of the fifth over, returning the ball where it came from.
The two batsmen are really confident as they reach England's 50.
Joseph is also guilty of over-stepping and bowling a no-ball to give Salt a free hit, which is a dot ball.
England are currently flying at a current run-rate of 11.78 per over.
Joseph almost gets Jacks but his shot falls just short of the fielder, but it was a heart-in-mouth moment for the opener.
The following short ball results in Jacks throwing his bat at a quick ball and being caught behind. Jacks departs for 25.
ENGLAND 43-0 (SALT 23, JACKS 16). OVERS: 4
After that expensive third over McCoy is back to bowl his second over of the innings.
England are hitting their stride and Jacks adds another four with a high shot into space which just drops short of the boundary.
Another high and lofty shot by Jacks which drops dead short of the boundary as England add three runs.
The opening pair for England continue to rack up the runs as Jacks adds a couple of quick singles.
ENGLAND 33-0 (SALT 21, JACKS 8). OVERS: 3
It's an over for Akeal Hosein as the West Indies search for an early wicket.
However, his first ball is swept for a single by Jacks which puts Salt back into bat.
A short and wide ball by Hosein then allows Salt to hit th ball for four.
The third ball of the over is short and Salt smashes it over the boundary for the first six of the innings.
A claim for out against Jacks for LBW. However, it looks be heading just over the wickets and West Indies decide not to refer.
Jacks adds another six from the final ball of the over. It's an expensive one for the hosts.
ENGLAND 15-0 (SALT 10, JACKS 1). OVERS: 2
Alzarri Joseph is now in to bowl for West Indies.
His second ball of the over is hit well enough to allow a quick single as Jacks gets off the mark.
Salt then tries a sweep shot and looks for a wide, but the umpire is not having it.
Joseph had a good over, but with his final ball some more miss-fielding resulted in England adding some vital runs.
ENGLAND 12-0 (SALT 8, JACKS 0). OVERS: 1
With the second ball of the innings Salt guides the first four through mid-wicket to get himself off the mark.
West Indies are then guilty of some poor fielding as some leg bye then sees the ball thrown to the wicket keeper. However, he misses the ball and it goes out for four.
Salt then smashes another ball back down the pitch which falls just a foot short of the boundary.

Action is getting underway with McCoy balling the first over to Sale, with Jacks at the opposite end of the crease.
CAN WEST INDIES MAKE TOSS PAY
England have won the toss in the opening three T20s in the series against the West Indies.
However, the hosts have the advantage this evening and made England bat, so they will have a target to hit.
Rovman Powell has urged his side to make themselves count as they bid to stop a whitewash 5-0 defeat on their home turf.
With England in bat first the hosts will be hoping for early wickets in St Lucia

Rovman Powell has urged his side to 'stand up and be counted in today's fourth test'.
Meanwhile, England captain Jos Buttler says that today will provide a different test as they have to set a total and defend it after losing the toss.
