On Sunday morning, Czechia's Vit Chabicovsky sent down an early contender for the best shot of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics during the curling mixed doubles clash against Norway. Just hours later, Team USA's Korey Dropkin ensured he would make the end-of-Games compilation with a stunning shot of his own. No sitting on the fence. When the Olympic Winter Games rolls around, there are few finer sights than a perfectly-executed shot in curling.

Seeing a stone effortlessly glide down the sheet, clunking its opposite numbers out of the way, providing the most satisfying acoustics. It is an art-form and the masters were at work on Sunday in a shot-making masterclass.

Both Czechia's Vit Chabicovsky and Team USA's Korey Dropkin provided standout moments with shots which will surely go down as two of the best at the Milano Cortina Games.

While Czechia's hopes of reaching the mixed doubles semi-finals are over, they certainly had a moment to savour with an outrageous effort in their 6-3 victory over Norway.

Chabicovsky and partner Julie Zelingrova were looking to pull back ahead in the third end with the score tied at 1-1.

With Norway in a dangerous position, having three stones near the centre of the house, Chabicovsky worked an angle to send two out of play, colliding against one another, leaving Czechia with two stones nestled in the green circle.

The effort was lauded in the TNT Sports commentary booth: "The triple is made. Two stones leave the rings fully, the third stone leaves the centre part of the scoring area. All three Norwegian stones on the move. What a shot!"

Chabicovsky's strike set Czechia up to score two in the third end as they recorded just their second victory in eight round-robin matches over Beijing silver medallists Norway.

It continued a tough few days for Norwegian pair Kristin Skaslien and Magnus Nedregotten - who are unable to reach the semi-finals, having won three of their eight matches.

Chabicovsky's effort would be a worthy winner of shot of the fortnight at the Games. As it happens, it may not even be the best shot from Sunday's action.

Team USA's Dropkin had to navigate the tricky task of a Swedish guard - a stone sitting in front of the house - complicating their route to a scoring position.

And few in the Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium - or indeed at home - could have foreseen Dropkin demolishing the Sweden defence quite so clinically.

Sending the stone at pace, Dropkin sent the guard out of play by colliding it with the near stone in the house, which in turn thumped into the other potentially-scoring stone - with all three sliding out of play.

There were raucous cheers from the stands for the mightily impressive effort, which helped Dropkin and team-mate Cory Thiesse to a tense 8-7 victory, as they secured their spot in the semi-finals.

Those in the commentary booth were left equally stunned: "Oh my goodness, Korey Dropkin. What a phenomenal shot. That got the crowd on their feet. Unbelievable performance tonight, running guard onto one, onto two, opens up the whole scoring area. Phenomenal shot."
