Emma Finucane makes history with fourth gold medal at 2026 Commonwealth Games after victory in women's keirin final - 'Utter domination!'

Emma Finucane made Commonwealth Games history with her fourth gold medal of this year's event in Glasgow after finishing first in the women's keirin final. The Welsh rider had previously won gold in the time trial, sprint and team sprint.

The 23-year-old became the first track sprinter to win four golds at a single Commonwealth Games, surging to the front with two laps remaining and holding off Australia's Ellesse Andrews, who took silver.
Andrews' compatriot Kristina Clonan won bronze but all the accolades went the way of Finucane, who has enjoyed a remarkable Games.
"Nobody's ever done it before!" said Rob Hatch on TNT Sports commentary. "Emma Finucane has now. Gold times four. Every single event and utter domination from Emma Finucane, who is imperious, inevitable. It's always her. Complete dominance in Glasgow.
"From Wales to the world. Emma Finucane, queen of the Commonwealth, on all four sprint fronts."
Finucane spoke to TNT Sports in the immediate aftermath of her latest triumph, saying that the achievement was difficult to take in. "Honestly, I can’t put it into words," she said.
"Every time I won this week, it was like, ‘Are you going to get the four?’ and it was just so hard to block it out.
"I really wanted it but just had to race through the races. I could have easily gone out in the semi there, so to make it to the final was insane and then to go out and win that race...
"I had to fight and it’s something I’m really proud of - even if I didn’t win that race, I was really proud of it, I just can’t believe it."

She added: "I've just enjoyed every minute and I think it shows out there that I've won four titles. It's just a bike race. There is a lot of pressure, a lot of people in the crowd, there is expectation but I enjoyed every moment and that's how I did what I did."
Finucane will now look ahead to the UCI Track World Championships in Shanghai in October, having won two silver medals in last year's event in Santiago.

"What's next? I don't know. I've got the Worlds in about 10 weeks time, so I'm going to have a little holiday with my sister.
"I just really want to use this momentum from the Welsh camp into GB and enjoy it a bit more, really live in the moment. The last Commonwealth Games, I don't really remember half of it, so I want to be present, sing the anthem again and take it all in."
England's Katy Marchant finished fifth in the keirin final.
