The lineup for the 2025 Giro d'Italia has been confirmed, and Tom Pidcock's Q36.5 pro Cycling team have been handed a wildcard. Tudor Pro Cycling and Italian teams Polti-VisitMalta and VF Group-Bardiani CSF-Faizane will also be on the start line on May 9. Tom Pidcock is in line for a tilt at the Giro d’Italia after race organisers confirmed Q36.5 Pro Cycling had been handed a wildcard for the opening Grand Tour of the 2025 season.

Britain’s dual Olympic gold medallist in mountain bike took the decision to step down from the World Tour when swapping Ineos Grenadiers for Q36.5 for this season.

His campaign started positively with a general classification win at the AlUla Tour, but Q36.5’s status as a second-tier team meant Grand Tour ambitions were up in the air.

But the Giro could now be in his sights after Q36.5 were handed a wildcard.

Tudor Pro Cycling and Italian teams Polti-VisitMalta and VF Group-Bardiani CSF-Faizane were also handed invitations to the race by Giro organisers.

Israel-Premier Tech, also in the second tier, earned an automatic invite to the Giro as one of the top two ProTeams in 2024. Lotto also qualified by right but declined to take up the offer to race in the Giro, meaning four wildcard spots became available.

Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates-XRG) won the Giro in 2024 but has elected not to defend his title this year.

Primoz Roglic won the race in 2023 and the Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe rider will be among the favourites after his win at the Volta a Catalunya at the weekend.

The Giro gets underway in Durres on May 9, before concluding in Rome on June 1.
