Two-time UCI world champion Remco Evenepoel is set to join Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe from Soudal Quick-Step. The move brings one of the most surprising transfer sagas in cycling history to an end. The Belgian is considered one of the greatest time trialists the sport has to offer. He is currently the Olympic champion in the time trial and the road race after a sensational performance at Paris 2024.

Two-time UCI World Champion Remco Evenepoel is set to join Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe from Soudal Quick-Step at the end of the current season.
The 25-year-old, who has struggled with injury this year, has been with his current team since starting his professional career in 2019.
But with his contract due to expire at the end of 2026, speculation had been mounting with regards to his future.
Soudal Quick-Step have now confirmed that the Belgian "did not wish to discuss an extension" of his current deal.
It means he will join Red Bull at the end of the season, with the news announced just weeks ahead of the Vuelta a Espana, an event in which he topped the general classification of in 2022.
Evenepoel's exit brings down the curtain on a glittering period with the team, having added the white jersey for the young rider classification at last year's Tour de France to his medal haul.

In a statement, Soudal Quick-Step said: "Soudal Quick-Step can announce that Remco Evenepoel will leave the team at the end of the current season, when he will join the Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe team.
"Representatives of Remco informed the team’s management that he did not wish to discuss an extension of his current agreement, which expires at the end of 2026.
"After taking some time to consult with our sponsors and partners, the team’s ownership and management have decided that it is in best interest of everyone to agree that Remco can move at the end of the current 2025 season.
"Since its inception in 2003, our team has seen many iterations and changes, while continuing to develop into one of the most successful teams in the history of professional cycling and recently became the first professional cycling team to reach 1000 UCI wins.
"While we regret Remco’s decision to leave," continued the statement. "We will foster the memories that we have made and will continue to strive together to achieve some significant results for the rest of the season.
"We strongly believe in the team spirit that earned us the title of the Wolfpack and we will continue to strive to be a collective that is stronger than any one individual.
"We would like to place on record our thanks to our sponsors and partners that have supported us throughout this process and will continue to do so in the future."
As yet, neither Red Bull nor Evenepoel have commented on the move.
The cyclist is also a two-time Olympic champion, having claimed the road race and time trial titles at Paris 2024.
He will move to a team who also have the likes of four-time Vuelta winner Primoz Roglic as well as 2025 Tour de France white jersey winner Florian Lipowitz currently on their roster.
