Week Three in the Esports World Cup gets underway with PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS and Teamfight Tactics

Week three began at the Esports World Cup this Tuesday with action in two tournaments, the PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS and Teamfight Tactics competitions. Both competitions witnessed the first day of group stage action, with several matches having fans on the edge of their seats.

Teamfight Tactics kicked off the day’s action as we had four games from both Group A and B in the competition.

Weibo Gaming would secure a 2-1 victory over T1 while Godlike Esports beat Fnatic 2-0, and now the winners will square off in the next round of the Upper Bracket in Group A, while the two losers will face off in the lower bracket to keep their hopes alive.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the Group A Upper Bracket, Team Vision and Wanin Flashwolves will now face off in the next round of this stage of the group stage after they beat Movistar Koi and Team Vitality, respectively; the two losers will square off in the lower bracket.

The first round of action from Group B saw AG.AL beat Mouz, and now they will face Zeta Division after their victory over JD Gaming in the Upper Bracket.

On the other side of this Upper Bracket in Group B, we watched as Virtus.Pro and Aurora Gaming secured wins over Team Nemesis and Nongshim Redforce to progress, respectively.

At the end of the first day of action in the PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS competition, which brought together Group A and Group B, Mith are currently leading the standings.

Mith have collected a total of 79 points from their opening six series, leaving them in a strong position moving forward in this group stage, with second-placed Twisted Minds earning a total of 69 points.

Team Liquid would finish the day in third, despite winning the first series of the day, with a total of 47 points, which also means they are tied in this position with GAM Esports.
