PSG 2-2 MONACO (5-4 on aggregate) - REPORT

PSG are into the last-16 of the Champions League, but it took a Monaco sending off before the defending champions finally got going in a nervy 2-2 draw at the Parc des Princes.

With a one-goal deficit to overturn from the first leg, the visitors made a bright start, and should have opened the scoring when Mamadou Coulibaly blazed over from close range, while Thilo Kehreh sent a flicked header wide.

Luis Enrique’s side grew into proceedings and thundered against the bar through Bradley Barcola, but found themselves 1-0 down when Maghnes Akliouche converted with a cool finish from Aladji Bamba’s pass on the strike of half-time.

The game would turn on its head after the break though, when Coulibaly received two quick yellow cards, the second for a silly challenge on Achraf Hakimi.

Down to ten men, Monaco would then concede from the resulting free-kick, as Marquinhos tucked into the back of the net from inside the six-yard box after getting on the end of Desire Doue’s inviting low cross.

Moments later, PSG opened up a two-goal cushion in the tie when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia converted on the rebound after Hakimi’s effort had been saved.

Substitute Jordan Teze did pull one back in injury time, but the hosts secured a 5-4 victory on aggregate and set-up a last-16 clash with either Barcelona or Chelsea.

PSG are through, as are Real Madrid, courtesy of their victory over Benfica.

But the story of the night is in Italy, where Juventus have taken their tie against Galatasaray to extra-time.

The Italian side were 5-2 down heading into this evening, but it finished 3-0 after 90 minutes!

Speaking on TNT Sports, Glenn Hoddle has given his assessment of their performance.

"There has got to be more to come if they're going to defend their trophy," he says.

"They haven't shown enough for me in these games and earlier in the group stages as well.

"They've got to be a machine that's going to grow and get better and better.

"They're capable of that for us, but my word, Faes at the end there could actually have equalised. What a chance.

"At the moment, PSG just don't look like a side that can keep a clean sheet."
