Joao Pedro said Paris Saint-Germain "lost their heads" after Chelsea dispatched the French outfit 3-0 in the Club World Cup final. At full-time, a scuffle broke out involving Pedro, PSG players Gianluigi Donnarumma and Achraf Hakimi as well as the Ligue 1 side's manager, Luis Enrique. Chelsea were crowned the first ever winners of FIFA's revamped Club World Cup.

Chelsea striker Joao Pedro said Paris Saint-Germain "lost their heads" following the full-time whistle of the Club World Cup final.

The Brazil international, who scored Chelsea’s third goal as the Blues dispatched European champions PSG 3-0 at the MetLife Stadium, was involved in a scuffle with the French side’s coach Luis Enrique on the final whistle.

"I don’t need to talk about them," Joao Pedro explained. "Everyone wants to win the game and, in the end, I think they lost their heads.

"But this is football. This has happened. Now we need to enjoy it because we won the tournament, that’s it.

"I don’t want to talk too much about them because you know how it works. Football is this."

Tempers frayed in the game’s closing stages as PSG’s Joao Neves received an 85th minute red card for pulling the hair of Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella.

Further scuffles broke out at the final whistle, including one involving Pedro and PSG duo Gianluigi Donnarumma and Achraf Hakimi.

Enrique subsequently interjected, and appeared to raise an arm at Pedro in the melee. The PSG boss has since insisted he was merely trying to defuse the situation by separating the players.

Enrique told reporters: "I have no problem expressing my feelings at the end of the game in a high level of pressure. It’s very stressful for all of us. It is going to be impossible to avoid that.

"Everybody was involved. It was not what was best and the end result of the pressure of the match.

"I have seen (Chelsea manager Enzo) Maresca. I saw he had pushed others and we had to separate all the players and I do not know where that pressure came from.

"But this is a situation we must all avoid, that goes without saying. My intention was to separate the footballers so the situation didn’t become worse."
