Robin van Persie has secured his second senior managerial role, taking over the reins at Feyenoord. The former Arsenal and Manchester United striker has signed a contract of over two years, having recently managed Heerenveen in the Dutch top flight. Van Persie started his senior playing career at the Rotterdam club and was a youth coach there before his move to the Frisian outfit.

Robin van Persie has been appointed Feyenoord manager, with the former Arsenal and Manchester United striker signing a contract until 2027.
The 41-year-old started his playing career at the Dutch giants, eventually moving to Arsenal in 2004. He scored 96 goals in 194 appearances for The Gunners.
Van Persie was most recently head coach at Heerenveen, who brought in the Netherlands legend from his post as one of Feyenoord's youth coaches.
"Everyone knows how special my bond with Feyenoord is," Van Persie said. "I am enormously looking forward, together with a strong staff, to working with the player group at 1908 and then in De Kuip, supported by the Legion, playing matches and achieving success together."
"We are delighted that with Robin van Persie we can appoint a true club icon as the new coach of Feyenoord," general manager Dennis te Kloese said. "Robin knows the club incredibly well and knows exactly what is needed to achieve results.
"With his vast international experience, Robin can obviously help the players develop further here. Moreover, his football vision fits perfectly with what we have in mind at Feyenoord: attacking and well-kept football, combined with guts, intensity and fight."
In his first managerial role, Van Persie led Heerenveen to ninth in the Eredivisie by the time of his departure, having overseen seven wins from 23 league games.
Rene Hake will act as Van Persie's assistant at the Rotterdam club, having departed as Erik ten Hag's assistant at Manchester United in November.

Feyenoord had been searching for a permanent manager ever since sacking Danish boss Brian Priske and appointing Pascal Bosschaart as interim coach on February 11.
Van Persie takes over with Feyenoord third in the Eredivisie, and with a clash against Internazionale looming in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League.
