Vinicius Junior will miss two of Real Madrid's La Liga matches after receiving a red card in his team's 2-1 victory against Valencia at the Mestalla. The Brazilian was sent off for clashing with opposing goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski. Real manager Carlo Ancelotti is angry about the decision but he will have his player available for their Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Mallorca.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has hit out at the two-match ban given to Vinicius Junior for his red card in their La Liga match against Valencia.

Vinicius was sent off with just over 10 minutes remaining at the Mestalla for pushing Valencia goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski.

Real were 1-0 down when Vinicius left the pitch, before goals from Luka Modric and Jude Bellingham secured a 2-1 victory.

During the match, Vinicius was jeered by home supporters and La Liga has since filed a report with the Spanish Football Federation and the Anti-Violence Commission over alleged offensive chants aimed at the Real star.

Defending his player, Ancelotti said: "Both he and I hear what happens in the stadiums, the insults.

Ancelotti was speaking ahead of his team’s Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Mallorca in Saudi Arabia on Thursday, a match Vinicius will be able to play in.

His ban will see him miss league fixtures against Las Palmas and Real Valladolid later this month.

Ancelotti was asked by reporters if he was unhappy with Vinicius constantly being in the headlines - even when it does not relate to his performances on the pitch.

"We are delighted with Vinicius in all ways," he replied.
