Spain continue their quest to add Olympic gold to their World Cup title as they take on Colombia in their quarter-final tie in Lyon. The Spaniards come into the match full of confidence having won three out of three during the group stage. Having only squeezed through as one of the best third place teams, Colombia will be underdogs but confident of springing a surprise.

Bonmati lives up to her star billing by slotting home the winning penalty. Tapia got hands on it, but could not keep it out and Spain win 4-2 on penalties. Heartbreak for Colombia as Spain found a way. Up next for Spain is a semi-final with France or Brazil.

The warm-ups are almost over as the Groupama stadium in the beautiful city of Lyon begins to fill up and prepare itself for the teams to begin battle. Quarter of an hour till kick off.

CLOSER LOOK: COLOMBIA

Colombia have struggled to get up to speed during this competition with a loss to the home nation France in their first game and a narrow loss to Canada. However, today's quarter final provides the South American team a chance to prove they have what it takes to beat a World Cup winning team and stamp their mark fully onto these Olympic Games.

CLOSER LOOK: SPAIN

Spain have impressed so far in this Olympic games with a perfect record. Terrifyingly for the teams still in the competition they've achieved this by barely hitting their stride. The world champions will look to increase this pace today in order to get passed a strong Colombian team and to send a message to the other teams still battling it out in the competition.

WHAT'S AT STAKE

The winner of today's quarter final will progress to a semi-final between either the host nation France or Brazil who play later. On the other side of the draw, USA and Japan still remains goal-less and the winner of that match will play either Canada or Germany in the other semi-final
Spain look to continue their run towards a gold medal to add to the World Cup trophy they won in Australia in 2023. Meanwhile, Colombia look to cause an upset and progress to the semi-finals bringing a chance of winning a medal.
