Football news - Pep Guardiola says Manchester United are in the Premier League title race

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola believes fifth-placed Manchester United are still in the hunt for the Premier League despite being 14 points behind leaders Liverpool with 13 games to play.

Liverpool’s draw at West Ham on Monday means Jurgen Klopp’s side are now top by three points ahead of Guardiola’s City – who could momentarily go first with victory at Everton on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Spurs are five points adrift of Liverpool, and Chelsea 12, but Guardiola insists it is now a five-horse race given United’s form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

"I never said Tottenham was not there, nor Chelsea," Guardiola said on Tuesday.

"If Chelsea is able to do games in a row, games in row, they'll be contenders too to win the Premier League, so everybody is there. The gap is not too big.

"With 39 points to play for, when you are nine, ten points behind, it's not too much. Seeing what's happening right now in the Premier League, everybody is ready to take points."
