Jamie Vardy: Leicester striker promises 'more to come' after signing new deal with Foxes - 'Age is just a number'

Jamie Vardy will play at least one more season of Premier League football after agreeing a new one-year contract with Leicester City.

The 37-year-old has signed a new deal at the King Power Stadium which runs until June 2025 to extend a highly successful spell in the East Midlands since arriving from Fleetwood Town in 2012.

He told LCFC.com: “To get the numbers that I did [last season], I’m delighted with it, but there’s still more to come. I look after myself. I’ve always said that age is just a number. My legs feel fine so that’s why I carry on until my legs say ‘that’s it, game over’. There will be a day when that comes, but that’s not right now.

“We look forward to another season in the Premier League and seeing what we can do - 100 per cent it’s the best league in the world. That’s where you want to be playing your football.”

Vardy played a pivotal role in helping The Foxes to secure an immediate return to the Premier League after relegation in the 2022/23 campaign, scoring 20 goals in all competitions as the club won the Championship title.

The striker has played a key role in arguably the best spell in Leicester's history, as his 24 goals across all competitions in the 2015/16 season helped the club claim its first-ever Premier League title.

He also broke Ruud van Nistelrooy's record by scoring in 11 consecutive Premier League games that season, ironically surpassing the Dutchman's feat in a 1-1 draw with Manchester United.

Vardy’s goals played a key role in the following season to help the club reach the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, with the frontman scoring a vital away goal to help Leicester overcome Sevilla in the last 16.

He broke new ground again after helping Leicester win their first FA Cup in the 2020/21 season, as The Foxes claimed consecutive top-five finishes under Brendan Rodgers.

More success followed in the 2021 Community Shield, as Leicester beat Manchester City 1-0 at Wembley Stadium, in a campaign where the club reached the UEFA Europa Conference League semi-finals.

The striker currently sits 15th in the all-time list of Premier League goalscorers with 136 goals – nine more than Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink in 16th and eight fewer than Robin van Persie in 14th.
