Arne Slot’s summer transfer drive at Liverpool has continued with the capture of goalkeeper Freddie Woodman.
The Reds confirmed on Friday evening that Woodman would make the move to the Premier League champions on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract at Preston North End.
Woodman, 28, spent three seasons at Deepdale, having made the move to Preston from Newcastle United via loan spells at Hartlepool United, Crawley Town, Kilmarnock, Aberdeen, Swansea City and Bournemouth.
Reds boss Slot was on the lookout for cover for Alisson Becker following Caoimhin Kelleher’s departure to Brentford.
Slot has not rested on his laurels after leading Liverpool to the Premier League title in his first season in charge.
The Dutchman has been an active player in the transfer market, with Liverpool bringing in Milos Kerkez, Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Giorgi Mamardashvili for a combined outlay believed to be in the region of £215 million.
Liverpool confirmed that Woodman would join up with the squad for pre-season training next month.
The Reds open their Premier League campaign at home to Bournemouth on August 15, with Woodman likely to provide backup to Alisson and Mamardashvili.
The latter was brought in for big money from Valencia, with the deal having been agreed last summer.

Prior to the opening game of the league season, Woodman could make a swift return to Deepdale as Liverpool face Preston in a pre-season friendly on July 13.
