Ruben Amorim reacts to winning first Premier League Manager of the Month award at Manchester United and says form helped 'change the narrative'

Ruben Amorim has given his reaction to TNT Sports after winning the Premier League Manager of the Month award for the first time, being named the winner for October. The Red Devils won all three of their league games last month, and Amorim - after a sticky start to the season - admitted these results have helped "change the narrative" around his team. Ruben Amorim says that "life can change really fast" as he reacted to winning the Premier League Manager of the Month award for October.

Amorim led Manchester United to three wins from three last month, over Sunderland, Liverpool and Brighton respectively, a series of results that fired his evolving side up the table.

With new signings Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Senne Lammens gelling quickly into his team, Amorim will hope for another strong performance when he takes his side to Tottenham this Saturday, November 8, live on TNT Sports and discovery+.

Speaking about his Manager of the Month award to TNT Sports at United's Carrington training ground, Amorim said: "My feeling is that life can change really fast.

"We changed in the last four weeks in our team.

"The second thing is, this is not my award, it’s a team award, because they [the players] are the ones that play the game and they did a very good job.

"They are working really hard, of course we have had some bad days during this season but we are working really hard to overcome all the situations that we had last year, and still in this beginning of the season.

"And the final thing and the most important thing, is that this is from last month, so it doesn’t matter.

"In football, we just need to win this one in the next month because it means that we are winning games."

Asked what he puts the strong performances over last month down to, Amorim added: "I think it’s the belief of the players that they can win.

"Small things in football can change everything in the environment of the team during the game.

"The way we win against Sunderland, and then to go to Anfield and to score in the first minute helped us a lot.

"All these small details help us to change a little bit the narrative around our team.

"So I think it’s more we need to give credit to the players."

In another boost to the club, Mbeumo was named October's Premier League Player of the Month, after his impressive displays at the sharp end of the pitch.

That included four goal contributions across the month, with a goal against Liverpool, two goals against Brighton, and an assist against Sunderland.
