AS Roma have appointed former Premier League winner Claudio Ranieri as their new manager, as the Italian side look to overturn a poor start to the 2024/25 Serie A campaign which has seen them pick up just three wins. Ranieri has won eight trophies in his managerial career, most notably leading Leicester City to the English top-flight title in 2015/16.

Former Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri has been tasked with overturning AS Roma's poor start to the Serie A campaign, returning to the club for a third time as head coach until the end of the season.
Roma confirmed the appointment on Thursday and said Ranieri will transition into a "senior executive role" upon the conclusion of the 2024/25 campaign, adding he will "have input" in the appointment of the club's next head coach.
A club statement said: "At the conclusion of the season, Claudio will transition into a senior executive role, where he will be an adviser to the ownership on all sporting matters at the club. The search for a future coach will proceed over the next months."
The 73-year-old famously won a Premier League title with Leicester in 2015/16 - the club's first in history - having previously spent time managing Chelsea.
He joined Roma in 2019 on a short-term basis in his second spell with the Italian side, having previously managed them 10 years earlier.
Ranieri took charge at Nantes, Fulham, Sampdoria, Watford and Cagliari in the wake of his Leicester dismissal, but has struggled to maintain a long-term stint, having not enjoyed a tenure longer than two years at any club.
The former Premier League champion will now look to improve the fortunes of his former club, who have won just three matches in a poor start to their Serie A campaign.
Former manager Ivan Juric was sacked after just 12 matches in charge of the club, having joined the club in September following the departure of Daniele De Rossi - who himself had been appointed in January to replace Jose Mourinho.
The Italian outfit have also struggled in the UEFA Europa League, picking up just one victory from their opening four matches - a 1-0 triumph over Dynamo Kyiv.

The torrid run saw Roma slip to a 1-0 defeat against Swedish side Elfsborg, while only managing a draw with Union SG in Belgium.
Ranieri has become accustomed to Serie A in recent years, taking charge of a combined 149 matches between spells with Roma, Sampdoria and Cagliari.
He most recently guided the latter to safety in the 2023/24 campaign, surviving by a one-point cushion after winning just one of his last seven matches in charge.
