Spurs tracking McTominay
Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay - but they will have to pay “at least” £40 million to acquire his services.
The Sun claims Erik ten Hag’s side want to sell players to “help balance the books” following the arrival of Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and Leny Yoro from Lille.
“Manchester United want at least £40 million before they even consider selling Scott McTominay,” writes The Sun.
“SunSport can reveal Tottenham are now tracking the Scottish international.
“Their London rivals Fulham have already had a bid turned down for the player.
“But further offers are expected for McTominay, 27, who may need to be sold by United to help balance the books - and support a planned summer spending spree.
“And they now want £40m for McTominay after demanding just £30m from suitors last year.
“Sources close to The Red Devils say that Erik Ten Hag is keen to keep the Scot.
“But he is not regarded as a first-team starter, which may lead to him moving on to make the next step in his career.
“There’s interest from overseas, with Turkish giants Galatasaray confirming they are keen on landing McTominay.”
Man Utd drop interest in De Ligt
Manchester United will drop their interest in Matthijs de Ligt following the arrival of Leny Yoro, claims the Mirror.
The Red Devils announced the signing of Yoro on Thursday in a deal reported to be £52m.
The outlet believes there will be no further defensive signings without a departure.
“Manchester United are expected to park their interest Matthijs de Ligt once they seal the capture of Lille prodigy Leny Yoro... unless there are defensive sales,” reads the article.
"With a limited transfer budget, some have questioned whether Yoro's arrival will bring United's pursuit of De Ligt to an end - and it seems that could well be the case.
“Manchester United headed into the summer with the intention of strengthening at centre-back and De Ligt, 24, was identified as a priority target alongside Yoro.
“However, United are looking now to press ahead with strengthening in other areas after landing the France Under-21 star - putting any move for the Bayern Munich man on hold. That's not to say they won't return however; United could make further changes in defence if players can be moved on, and they remain admirers of the former Ajax man.”
Brentford drop asking price for Toney
Brentford have dropped their asking price for Ivan Toney to less than £50m “due to a lack of interest”.
That is according to The Sun, which claims Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea are no longer interested in signing the England international.
“That leaves Tottenham and West Ham as his most likely suitors,” continues the article.
“Brentford had hoped to create an auction for Toney after he returned from an eight-month gambling ban in January and initially invited bids in excess of £80m.
“But there were no offers Toney during the winter transfer window and the club have been surprised at the lack interest this summer.
“Arsenal are not prioritising signing a striker this summer, Chelsea think Toney is too old and United have signed £36.5m Holland striker Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna.”
