Gyokeres not likely to move to Old Trafford
Manchester United are not expected to be serious contenders in the race to sign Viktor Gyokeres this summer.
The Sweden international has struck 22 goals in 20 league appearances for Sporting CP so far this season, but a reunion with Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford seems unlikely.
"Sporting are said to be open to the prospect of cashing in on Gyokeres in the summer and could be open to a deal in the region of €70million (£58m)," reads a report in Metro.
"However, according to The Athletic, United are not expected to be one of the frontrunners for the 26-year-old’s signature in the summer.
"Gyokeres is said to prefer a move to a Champions League side which United are unlikely to achieve unless they win the Europa League.
"Even if United qualify for Europe’s premier club competition, other more appealing clubs are expected to make moves to sign Gyokeres.
"The report also adds that United have reservations about Gyokeres’ age and would prefer to recruit younger players as they did with the signing of 20-year-old full-back Patrick Dorgu in January."
Red Devils turn attention to Delap
Instead, The Red Devils could make a move for Ipswich Town forward Liam Delap.
A report in the Manchester Evening News, also using The Athletic as their source, claims The Red Devils are tracking the former Manchester City man.
"Manchester United are reportedly keeping a close eye on Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap ahead of the summer transfer window," reads the article.
"According to The Athletic, with a move for Viktor Gyokeres looking unlikely, Delap could be an option - especially if Ipswich are relegated," states the outlet.
"Technical director Jason Wilcox already has a good understanding of the forward's talents, having been part of the City backroom staff who signed him in 2019 from Derby County.
"Finances are the biggest stumbling block between United completing the purchase and not. It is understood that if Ipswich were to be relegated, then the Reds would be in with a good shot of signing the striker.
"The report adds that City have a £40m buy-back clause inserted into the deal which is believed to be the barometer by which clubs are measuring how much Ipswich will hold out for. It is expected that Chelsea would be United's main competitors if they were to make their interest in Delap formal."

Premier League clubs keen on Paixao
Igor Paixao’s starring role in Feyenoord’s UEFA Champions League victory over AC Milan has alerted a trio of Premier League clubs, it has been claimed.
According to The Sun, Tottenham, Newcastle and Bournemouth are interested in signing the winger, whose third-minute goal gave the Dutch side a 1-0 win over the Serie A giants on Wednesday.
"Three Premier League clubs are chasing Feyenoord's Champions League star Igor Paixao," reads the article.
"Tottenham, Newcastle and Bournemouth are all keen on the Brazilian winger, who scored the winner against AC Milan and gave Kyle Walker a torrid time at De Kuip on Wednesday.
"Paixao beat Walker after just three minutes before firing in at the near post and then continued to torment the England international throughout the night.
"Newcastle and Bournemouth both had scouts in Rotterdam for the Champions League play-off first leg.
"Paixao, 24, has eight goals and 14 assists across Eredivisie and the Champions League this season, with the player keen on a Premier League move in the summer.
"Feyenoord are thought to rate their speedy winger, signed from Brazilian side Coritiba in 2022, at £25 million and there was plenty of evidence as to why on Wednesday night."
