Chelsea’s interest in Barcelona star Aitana Bonmati could land her a huge new contract, while Chelsea could soon be under a new ownership structure. Elsewhere, Manchester United were considering the appointment of Thomas Tuchel as Erik ten Hag’s replacement, and Real Madrid are set to appoint Stockport County assistant coach Andy Mangan to their backroom staff.

Chelsea prompt Bonmati contract deal
Barcelona have responded to interest in Aitana Bonmati by moving to tie her down to a new deal.
The Athletic believes that the 26-year-old will become the highest earner in women’s football as a result.
The website writes: “Aitana Bonmati is expected to become the highest-paid player in women’s football after agreeing a lucrative contract extension with Barcelona.
“The 26-year-old Ballon d’Or winner has committed her future to the Catalan club, despite strong interest from Chelsea, who enquired about her availability.
“However, Bonmati has decided to continue her career in Spain, putting an end to speculation over her long-term future. Her existing Barcelona deal was due to expire in 2025.
“Bonmati’s impending renewal will follow [Alexia] Putellas’ contract extension in May. The 30-year-old has committed her future to Barcelona until 2026, with an option for a third year.”
Chelsea consider ownership change
Chelsea's two main owners, Clearlake Capital and Todd Boehly could look to buy one another out.
Business website Bloomberg reports the two parties have found working together increasingly difficult.
Their report states: "Chelsea FC's main shareholders are exploring their ownership of the English Premier League football club after little more than two years in charge, amid a deterioration in relations, people familiar with the matter said.
"California-based private equity firm Clearlake Capital - Chelsea’s majority owner - and US businessman Todd Boehly are assessing whether they can potentially buy each other out, according to the people.
"The relationship between Clearlake co-founder Behdad Eghbali and Boehly, who together led a hard-fought takeover of Chelsea in 2022, has deteriorated in recent months, according to the people, as a period of heavy spending at the club has failed to bring success on the field."
Tuchel lurks as Ten Hag falls under pressure
With Erik ten Hag under pressure once more after a poor start to the season, The Mirror reports on details of talks with Thomas Tuchel.
The former Chelsea manager is believed to have spoken to United co-owner Jim Ratcliffe over a potential role.
The paper notes: “Thomas Tuchel may not have landed the Manchester United job earlier this year, but the German has [made] no secret of his desire to return to the Premier League.
“It was announced back in February that Tuchel, 51, would leave his role as Bayern Munich head coach at the end of the 2023/24 campaign and he was subsequently touted for a number of high-profile roles.
“Manchester United were one of said roles given the pressure Erik ten Hag was under towards the end of last season. And although Tuchel is known to have met with United chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe, he remains unattached.
“Ten Hag was handed a contract extension off the back of an impressive triumph over Manchester City in last season's FA Cup final, but the Dutchman is already under siege following an underwhelming start to the current campaign.”
Mangan set for Real role
The Sun reports that Stockport assistant manager Andy Mangan is poised to move to Real Madrid.
After sharing time with Carlo Ancelotti’s son, Davide, he has been recommended for a role with the Champions League winners.
The paper claims: “Stockport assistant coach Andy Mangan is set to join Real Madrid.
“Mangan, 38, has been chosen to join the Spanish giants after sparking up a close relationship with boss Carlo Ancelotti's son.
“Davide Ancelotti, who is an assistant manager behind his dad at Madrid, undertook a coaching course with Mangan.
“And now the League One coach will swap the gloomy north of England for sunny Spain.
“SunSport exclusively revealed last month that Mangan was in talks with the European champions.”
