Manchester United are interested in Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott and Joao Gomes of Wolverhampton Wanderers, while Coventry City would like to keep Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Carl Rushworth. Elsewhere, Chelsea may lose both Sam Kerr and Millie Bright this summer and Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes is not demanding he becomes the best-paid player at the club.

Scott joins United shortlist
Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott is one of Manchester United’s candidates as they look to strengthen their squad in the summer.
The Manchester Evening News also believes that Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Joao Gomes is also featuring heavily in plans.
It explains: ”But as a young English midfielder with two years left on his contract, his performances have attracted admiring glances, not least from United, who have run the rule over a number of Premier League midfielders this summer as they look to sign two new central players.
”They are targeting an elite-level No. 6 to replace Casemiro and are likely to also need a replacement for Manuel Ugarte. Scott wears the No. 8 for Bournemouth and carries a threat heading towards the opposition goal, but he would add depth to the United squad and could compete with Mainoo for that role.
”He is one of many midfielders that United have run the rule over this summer. Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes, Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton have all been considered, while they have recently renewed interest in Wolves' Brazilian international Joao Gomes.”
Coventry face Rushworth battle
Coventry City's Frank Lampard face a tough challenge to keep hold of goalkeeper Carl Rushworth.
The 24-year-old stopper has impressed while on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion and is attracting admiring glances.
The Sun states: ”Brighton goalkeeper Carl Rushworth is attracting immense Premier League interest amid his stunning loan stint at Coventry, reports suggest.
”Rushworth, 24, has played a key role in the Sky Blues’ impressive campaign that has them topping the second flight and in the driving seat for promotion.
”Brighton are believed to value the shot-stopper in the region of £20 million.
”And the Seagulls could opt to keep the ex-England youth international after his impressive season in the Championship.”
Chelsea duo set to leave
Chelsea stars Sam Kerr and Millie Bright could both leave Chelsea at the end of the season.
Both players are out of contract at the end of the 2025/26 campaign, though there is an option to extend Bright’s deal by another season.
The Athletic writes: ”Striker Sam Kerr is expected to depart Chelsea when her contract expires at the end of the season, while captain Millie Bright also wants to leave.
”Both are out of contract at the end of this season. Chelsea offered Bright a new deal but the 32-year-old, who is the club’s longest continuously-serving player, prefers an exit. Bright’s one-year extension, signed in March 2025, does contain the option of an extra 12 months.
”Kerr, 32, is also expected to depart at the end of her contract, with strong interest in the Australian from multiple clubs in the NWSL. She scored four goals for Australia, who she is captain of, en route to the Asia Cup final, which they lost 1-0 against Japan on Saturday. She is currently Chelsea’s top goalscorer in all competitions, with 10 goals.”
Guimaraes demands clarified
The Newcastle Chronicle claims that Bruno Guimaraes' contract demands do not insist that he is made the top-paid player at Newcastle United amid interest from Manchester United.
The Brazilian is thought to be a target for The Red Devils as they look to strengthen their midfield options this summer.
The outlet reports: ”Bruno Guimaraes' contract discussions will not boil down to the club captain being the top earner at St James' Park.
”In a week that has resulted in Bruno being heavily linked with Manchester United after leaks from the Old Trafford end suggested that transfer chief Jason Wilcox had held conversations with Bruno's camp, the midfielder was described as "totally committed" to the project at Newcastle.
”It is thought that Bruno and his representatives are only keen to discuss a deal that suits their client, and he will negotiate on his own terms, suggesting that becoming the highest-paid player won't be a motivation during talks.
”But Bruno's arrangement remains the same as it has been since 2023, when he signed his last extension. That still has two years left to run, but he could jet off to the World Cup without signing a new deal.”
