Deschamps to Real Madrid rumours dismissed
French outlet L’Equipe have claimed Didier Deschamps' entourage have dismissed reports linking the France manager to Real Madrid.
Deschamps is set to step down as France boss after this summer’s World Cup, following an extraordinary 14-year spell in charge in which Les Bleus won the 2018 World Cup in Russia, and reached the final of both the 2022 tournament in Qatar and Euro 2016 on home soil.
Reports in Spain, which suggested Deschamps could take over from Alvaro Arbeloa as Real Madrid boss in the summer, have been dismissed by the Frenchman’s camp.
”For several weeks, before Alvaro Arbeloa's string of positive results, rumours circulated about the Spanish club's interest in Deschamps,” the L’Equipe report claims.
”This interest was significant enough for prominent sporting directors to speak openly about it. Within Deschamps' camp, however, this rumour was dismissed.
”Despite this, his managerial skills, his winning mentality, and his strong relationship with Kylian Mbappe make the French national team manager a perfect fit for Florentino Perez.”

Juventus interested in Ugarte
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus officials will keep a close eye on Manuel Ugarte when he features for Uruguay against Algeria at Allianz Stadium on Tuesday.
With Teun Koopmeiners’ future in doubt, Ugarte is reportedly seen as someone who could act as a direct replacement.
The article reads: ”The Juventus sporting director won't just be hosting the match, but will also take the opportunity to conduct some live tests.
”The match offers plenty of opportunities, but the Juventus director's eyes will be primarily on Manuel Ugarte.
”The 24-year-old Uruguayan midfielder is a young, ‘old’ Juventus target: he was popular during his time at Sporting, and in recent years, Continassa have made several attempts to sign him on loan, first from PSG and then from Manchester United, where he will play starting in the summer of 2024.
”Ugarte's name crops up every time, and he has never been removed from the Bianconeri squad in recent years. Ottolini will be taking notes ahead of July and the midfield overhaul agreed upon with Spalletti.”

Napoli to take ‘disciplinary’ action against Lukaku
In a statement, Napoli confirmed they will take the ”appropriate disciplinary” action against Romelu Lukaku after the striker did not show up for a training session on Tuesday.
Lukaku pulled out of international team duty last week, citing inflammation and fluid in the iliopsoas muscle, but remained in Belgium to train individually rather than return to Naples.
”Napoli announce that Romelu Lukaku did not respond to today’s call-up ahead of the resumption of training,” Napoli said.

”The club reserves the right to evaluate the adoption of appropriate disciplinary measures as well as the continuation of the player’s participation in the team on an indefinite basis.”
Lukaku poured cold water on claims he is looking to force himself out of the club, stressing his commitment to the Napoli cause.
In an Instagram post he said: ”I could never turn my back on Napoli, never. There's nothing I want more than to play and help my team win.”
