Gazzetta dello Sport reports that The Blues have reignited their interest in Milan goalkeeper Maignan.
Chelsea missed out on his signature last summer and the shot-stopper has been in fine form for Massimiliano Allegri's side this season, despite an underwhelming campaign for the European heavyweights.
Chelsea are keen to upgrade on Sanchez in the coming months, but a lot could depend on the club's failure to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
The report reads: "Maignan had a lot of pressure on him in the summer of 2025. There was even a moment when the Frenchman had said yes to Chelsea, and if Milan had managed to reach a financial agreement with The Blues, we wouldn't be talking about Mike anymore.
"Then Allegri stepped in. He worked behind the scenes with the player himself, explaining the importance and centrality he had for him.
"Confirming that he would keep the captain's armband. The icing on the cake was the arrival of Claudio Filippi, whom Maignan immediately fell in love with professionally. A figure who, for him, was much more than just a goalkeeping coach.
"It's no coincidence that the Frenchman's performance have increased to the levels of his best years with Milan. But now the sirens from across the Channel are singing again. Chelsea has never forgotten Mike.
"Maignan's balance, however, might not tip entirely toward The Blues - the lure of the Premier League is fine, but there won't be any Champions League [for Chelsea] there next year."

Neuer extends Bayern Munich contract

Manuel Neuer has once again committed to Bayern Munich, signing a deal that will keep him at the German giants until at least 2027.
Neuer joined Bayern in 2011 and has made 597 appearances for the club, winning 13 league titles and two UEFA Champions League medals.
The goalkeeper said: "I'm absolutely thrilled. My decision took a little while – I really wanted to take my time because it's a very important decision, first and foremost for me, but of course also for the club and our team. Now I'm convinced: It's the right decision.

"I knew for sure two weeks ago that I wanted to continue. But I already had a feeling a few weeks ago that I would. We just had such important games coming up, and those were my priority.
"Now, before the final game against Cologne, which will decide the championship, the timing is perfect – and next week we have another crucial game in Berlin against Stuttgart. The goal is the double.
"Everything is right for me: We have a superb coaching staff and a great team. I was able to prove my performance once again. And we have the opportunity to beat every opponent, even at the highest level."
Fellow goalkeeper Sven Ulreich has also extended his deal at the club until 2027.

Brandt to replace Greizmann?

Reports suggest Atletico Madrid could be interested in signing Julian Brandt from Borussia Dortmund to replace the outgoing Antoine Griezmann.
Griezmann is set to leave Atletico in the summer, while Brandt will be a free agent at the end of the season.
Journalist Ekrem Konur highlighted Atletico's interest in Brandt, who he reports "has played his final home game for BVB" in the club's 3-2 Bundesliga victory over Frankfurt last Friday.
He has also reported that although Atletico are the favourites for his signature, Premier League leaders Arsenal are also interested, as are Roma and Fenerbahce.
Brandt has produced 15 goal contributions (11 goals and four assists) in 40 games across all competitions this season.
