You thought transfer season had finished? Think again, as Premier League clubs are technically still able to bring in players who are not currently contracted to a club. These free agents contain England internationals, two Chelsea UEFA Champions League winners, and an ex-Barcelona wonderkid once likened to Lionel Messi. Can they revive their careers in the coming weeks?

The summer transfer window might have shut in the Premier League - but there could be moves made yet as a group of free agents seek to sure up their futures.

Players not contracted to any club can move at any time, and that might be music to the ears of embattled and/or cash-strapped managers in the English top flight.

A number of high-profile free agents already transferred in the early throes of the summer window, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kevin De Bruyne heading to new European homes.

Takehiro Tomiyasu

Right at the end of the summer transfer window back in 2021, Mikel Arteta brought in Takehiro Tomiyasu from Bologna.

The versatile Japanese defender made 84 total appearances for The Gunners across four seasons, but only one in the Premier League last term after struggling with injury. As such, his contract was mutually terminated last July.

At still only 26 though, Tomiyasu should have plenty of football left in him as he eyes a suitor.

Hakim Ziyech

It's hard to believe that just over four years ago, Hakim Ziyech was on top of the footballing world, having won the UEFA Champions League with Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea.

Fast forward to May this year, and the Moroccan winger saw his contract at Qatar club Al-Duhail mutually terminated.

Can "The Wizard" - still only 32 - convince anyone to take a bet on him rediscovering former glories?

Sergio Reguilon

Arriving at Tottenham from Real Madrid in 2020, Sergio Reguilon was initially impressive in North London, making 25+ appearances in the Premier League in back-to-back seasons.

But it's been a chaotic time for the Spaniard since then, with three loan spells - at Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and Brentford - and now a release from Spurs as his deal expired.

A Spain international, with six caps to his name, Reguilon has been linked with Everton, Bournemouth and various clubs elsewhere in Europe, but nothing has yet materialised for the 28-year-old defender.

Christian Eriksen

Christian Eriksen, now 33, spent three years at Manchester United before his contract ran out at the end of last season.

The former Spurs midfielder recovered incredibly from his cardiac arrest suffered during Euro 2020 to continue his career, acting as an inspiration to many people throughout football and beyond.

Eriksen's next step remains unclear but there has been reported interest from Scott Parker's Burnley.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

UEFA Champions League and Premier League winner Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain left Liverpool back in 2023 for Turkish club Besiktas, but after a difficult two-year period involving injuries, the now 32-year-old saw his deal terminated a year early this summer.

What next for the 35-cap England midfielder? Links to Leeds and Birmingham City have been mooted for the former Arsenal star, but the wait currently goes on for a concrete move.

Dele Alli

Released by Como after just one appearance, Dele's next decision would appear a pivotal one after difficult spells at Everton and Besiktas - on loan - prior to that.

In their statement, Como said: "Dele is keen to secure regular playing opportunities and, as he was not part of the club's immediate plans, both parties felt it was the right decision to part ways ahead of the transfer window closing."

Where could the 29-year-old fit in as he seeks a route back to the elite of the game? Can he recapture the brilliance seen for Spurs under Mauricio Pochettino?

Patrick Bamford

Once a key frontman leading the line for Leeds, Patrick Bamford left the club after a seven-year stint this summer, with manager Daniel Farke not considering him part of his plans.

Bamford, who won his sole cap for England in 2021, has been the subject of interest from Celtic as he eyes his next step.

Munir El Haddadi

A three-time La Liga winner, a UEFA Champions League winner, and once labelled as the "next Lionel Messi".

Munir El Haddadi, a Barcelona graduate, had to deal with lofty comparisons and expectations as he found his way in the game.

That has involved a peripatetic journey around Spain as the Moroccan international spent time with Valencia, Alaves, Sevilla, Getafe, Las Palmas and lastly Leganes.

His exit from the latter club means he is on the lookout for a new home.

Kurt Zouma

Like Ziyech, it wasn't long ago that Kurt Zouma was an important figure at Chelsea as they conquered Europe.

A spell at West Ham came to an end this summer, after the French defender spent last season in the Saudi Pro League with Al-Orobah.

Zouma, 30, now faces a wait to see where his career takes him next.

Josh Brownhill

Influential for Burnley in their promotion campaign last term, midfielder Josh Brownhill would seem to have plenty of options open to him.

Interest from Saudi Arabia has been reported, following the 29-year-old's announcement that he was leaving the Clarets at the end of his contract in July.

The former Manchester United schoolboy is said to be interesting Premier League strugglers Wolves.
