Man Utd linked with five managers
Oliver Glasner, Michael Carrick, Gareth Southgate, Marco Silva and Mauricio Pochettino are linked with the Manchester United job as Ruben Amorim comes under pressure.
The Mirror reports that some players have started to lose faith in the Portuguese after a poor start to the season.
The paper explains: "Ruben Amorim has not even reached a year as Manchester United manager and he is already under huge pressure for his job.
"Mirror Football understands that Amorim is losing the confidence of some of his senior players and the next three games will be crucial.
"United host Chelsea at Old Trafford on Saturday, followed by a trip to Brentford and a home encounter with newly-promoted Sunderland, before the two-week international break."
Newcastle keen on Mainoo
The Sun reports that Newcastle are interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo this January.
Mainoo had wanted to leave United on loan as he struggled for minutes under Amorim, but was forbidden to leave the club.
The paper writes: "Newcastle could offer out-of-favour Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo a fresh start in January after his failed summer transfer.
"United chose to keep Mainoo in a dramatic climax to their 2025 business, standing in his way despite knowing his intention to leave.
"Mainoo, 20, has struggled to match his 2023/24 form under Ruben Amorim and is fighting against club captain Bruno Fernandes for a position in midfield.
"With the Englishman hoping to get back into the national team ahead of next year’s World Cup, Mainoo is seeking regular game time having once more been left on the bench for Sunday’s Manchester derby."
Vargas could quit Hearts for good
Kenneth Vargas may leave Hearts on a permanent deal, according to the Daily Record.
The Costa Rican forward has struggled for minutes so far this season, and a loan move to SC Herediano could be made permanent in the coming months.
The paper states: "Kenneth Vargas has left Hearts to return to former club CS Herediano on loan.
"The Costa Rican forward hasn't featured for the Jambos under Derek McInnes, having suffered a hip injury that kept him out of pre-season before finding himself way down the pecking order after a raft of summer arrivals at Tynecastle.
"The club have now confirmed that Vargas will head back to his homeland on a short-term basis initially, although the move could be made permanent in January."
Pereira set for new Wolves deal
Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to seal a new contract with head coach Vitor Pereira.
The Athletic reports that he will sign fresh terms that will run until 2028.
The website reports: "Vitor Pereira is set to sign a new three-year deal as Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach.
"Wolves are confident the 57-year-old, whose current contract expires in June 2026, will pen a new agreement through to 2028.
"The agreement is set to come after a difficult start to the 2025-26 season, with Wolves losing all of their first four Premier League games, the worst start to a league season in the club’s history."
