INTER OPEN TALKS WITH TOTTENHAM OVER ROMERO
Inter Milan have opened talks with Tottenham over a potential move for Cristian Romero, according to the Daily Mail.
The Spurs captain has attracted interest from the Serie A giants after helping Argentina reach a second consecutive World Cup final, but Tottenham are expected to demand a significant fee for the 28-year-old.
Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio confirmed the club are working on a possible deal.
"It’s definitely a deal we are trying to sign with the player and the club. These things take some time but there’s definitely interest. Let’s see."

JUVENTUS JOIN RACE FOR FREE AGENT STONES
Juventus have joined the race to sign John Stones as a free agent, according to Sky Italy reporter Luca Bendoni.
The Italian giants have registered interest in the former Manchester City defender, with Arsenal and Chelsea also previously linked with a move for the experienced centre-back.
Stones, who impressed for England at this summer's World Cup, is attracting an increasing number of options as clubs look to secure his services following his departure from City.

WREXHAM JOIN RACE FOR CRYSTAL PALACE DEFENDER IMRAY
Wrexham have joined the clubs monitoring Crystal Palace full-back Danny Imray, according to the Daily Mail.
The 22-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Blackpool and West Bromwich Albion, is also wanted back by Albion, while Stoke City have shown interest.
Wrexham are continuing to target ambitious signings as they look to push towards the Premier League, with the club also still pursuing Leicester City defender Harry Souttar.
Souttar is keen to leave Leicester, but the Foxes' £10million asking price has reportedly deterred potential suitors including Sheffield United and Stoke.

NO PLAN TO SEND LACEY ON LOAN
Manchester United are planning to keep teenage winger Shea Lacey in their first-team squad for the first half of the season, according to reports from The Sun.
The 19-year-old strengthened his case for a senior role after scoring in United's 5-0 pre-season victory over Rosenborg, opening the scoring in Trondheim to highlight his growing first-team credentials.
Lacey made his senior debut last December and has since added three more appearances for United, with the club now expected to monitor his progress before deciding his next step.
According to The Sun, Michael Carrick wants to keep the winger at Old Trafford until at least the January transfer window, when United and Lacey's representatives will reassess whether he should remain with the first-team squad or move out on loan for the first time.

NEWCASTLE TARGET BRAGA GOALKEEPER LUKAS HORNICEK
Newcastle have turned their attention to Sporting Braga goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek after Hull City failed in a bid to sign the Czech Republic international earlier this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
Hull matched the 24-year-old's £25.9 million release clause, but Hornicek rejected the move, while Benfica have also made enquiries in recent days.
Braga president António Salvador confirmed the club had accepted an offer before the player opted to stay.
"We even had one [a concrete approach]. The player himself, Hornicek, refused. There was a proposal from England, from the Premier League, but the player felt he shouldn’t go to that club and we were happy for him to stay," Salvador told Portuguese media.

CHIESA: I WANT LIVERPOOL STAY
Federico Chiesa isn't thinking of ending his Liverpool career just yet, with the Italy international determined to prove his worth to new manager Andoni Iraola.
Chiesa has been speaking during the Reds' pre-season tour of Nashville, and told reporters - including The Athletic's James Pearce - that he is not willing to leave his place in Liverpool's first-team squad without a fight.
”Right now, at the moment, I am happy here at Liverpool,” he said after scoring the third goal in Saturday’s 4-2 friendly win over Sunderland.
”I love the club, I love the fans, I love everything. I am doing the best I can to have a chance here and then we will see. At the minute, the only thing I am thinking about is Liverpool.
”It is always a fresh start at the beginning of the year. Maybe there have been too many fresh starts, but I don’t care. I am trying to do my best for this new manager. Last year I also felt ready to play a bigger role, but then it depended on whether the coach wanted me to play or not.
”The gaffer had his game plans, he took his decisions, I have nothing to say about that. This year, let us say it is a new chapter. There is a new manager and I have to focus on that.”

YORK CITY MANAGER MAYNARD DEPARTS
York City have confirmed that manager Stuart Maynard has left the League Two club with immediate effect following a reported "difference in direction and vision for the football club".
The Minstermen announced the decision on Sunday, bringing an end to Maynard's time in charge as the club begins the search for his successor.
A club statement said the decision had been made after discussions between Maynard and the board, with both parties agreeing that a change was the right outcome for York's future plans.

Vinicius Junior has reportedly decided to snub Arsenal in favour of signing a new contract with Real Madrid.
The Brazilian has just one year left on his contract at the Bernabeu, but The Standard cites a report from Diario AS which claims there is confidence an agreement can be reached over a new deal.
Vinicius' decision to stay is somewhat of a surprise, considering Real are pursuing a deal with RB Leipzig for Yan Diomande in a transfer which could be worth more than £100 million.
The 26-year-old appears to be on the same page as Jose Mourinho, who informed the club's hierarchy that he doesn't want to lose any senior players this summer.
