Jose Mourinho: Portuguese boss unveiled as Fenerbahce manager on two-year deal - 'This shirt is my skin'

Turkish giants Fenerbahce have officially unveiled Jose Mourinho as their new manager.

The 61-year-old joins the Istanbul-based Super Lig side on a two-year deal.

Fenerbahce showed off Mourinho on Sunday evening at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium, where he told fans: "Your dreams are now my dreams."

In a stadium packed with fans, the club's supporters embraced Mourinho with constant cheering and noise.

The Portuguese coach has been out of work since being sacked by Roma in January, with the Serie A side sitting ninth in the table.

Mourinho had been in charge of Roma for two-and-a-half years, after being dismissed by Tottenham Hotspur.

He guided the Italian side to two sixth-place finishes in Serie A and led them to consecutive European finals, winning the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2022 against Feyenoord, before losing the UEFA Europa League final in 2023 to Sevilla.

He replaces Ismail Kartal after Fener missed out on the league title to bitter rivals Galatasaray by three points.

Mourinho addressed the supporters in the Kadikoy district of Istanbul, telling them: "First of all I want to thank you for your love. The love that I feel from the first moment where my name was connected with Fenerbahce.

“Normally a coach is loved after victories, in this case, I feel that I am loved before victories. And that for me is a big responsibility that I feel, and I promise you that from this moment, I belong to your family. This shirt is my skin. Football is passion and there is no better place to feel that passion," he said to thousands of screaming fans in Istanbul.

"Since the moment I met with President Ali Koc, I wanted to play for you. In the end, you are the soul of the football club and since the moment I met him, since the moment I understood his ideas, and his project, I wanted to play for you. I wanted to be the coach of all of you.

“I want to work for Turkish football, I want to work for the Turkish league, I want to help, to improve. But the most important thing for me is not Turkish football, not the Turkish league, it’s Fenerbahce.

“From the moment I signed my contract, your dreams are now my dreams.”

Mourinho joined TNT Sports' coverage of the UEFA Champions League final between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid, providing analysis as part of a star-studded team for the final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

The two-time Champions League winner saw former club Madrid claim a 2-0 victory at the home of English football, sealing a 15th European crown thanks to goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Jr.
