Crystal Palace 3-0 Fiorentina result – Mateta, Mitchell and Sarr give Eagles commanding lead in UEFA Conference League quarter-finals

The momentum has shifted in this second half, and it's a much more even game, with both sides looking to greate in attack.

Dodo gets forward again and feeds Piccoli with a lovely little through ball. The striker's first-time effort looks to be creeping inside the near post, but Henderson gets down well to make the stop.

Fiorentina just had their best five minutes of the game, but they haven't managed to score.

The Italian side pinned Palace in their own penalty area with a concerted period of pressure, but they struggled to create a clear-cut chance.

Eventually, a cross from Jack Harrison found the head of Gudmundsson, whose effort was heading goalwards. But it wasn't powerful enough to cause any trouble for Dean Henderson, who gathered with ease.

Immediately after Fabian's missed opportunity at one end, Palace go straight up the other and Kamada hits the side netting for the hosts.

Again, it's a chance he probably should have done more with, but his effort went the wrong side of the near post.

Fiorentina have come out for this second half and have already shown more purpose and drive than they did in the entire first half.

Dodo gets forward down the right flank and cuts the ball back for Fabbian, who has time and space to pick his spot. Instead, he hits it first time and the ball cannons back off the crossbar.

That's the first really big chance of the game for the visitors, and they probably should have made more of it.

After a lengthy delay while the Fiorentina goalmouth is cleared of ticker tape (AKA loo roll), we're back underway at the start of the second half.

Can Palace build on their 2-0 first-half lead, or can Fiorentina steady the ship in this second 45?

Raye's "Where the hell is my husband?" blasts from the stadium PA as the teams head for the dressing room at half-time.

But for Fiorentina boss Paolo Vanoli, it's more a case of "Where the hell is my defence?"

Palace have been superb in that opening 45. Fiorentina have a lot of work to do, or things could get even worse in the second half.

There will be THREE MINUTES of added time at the end of this first half.

Dodo brings down Guessand, who had snuck past the Brazilian full-back. A more over-zealous referee would have given him a second yellow card and sent him for an early bath. But this referee saw the Brazilian try to avoid contact with the Palace man and has given him the benefit of the doubt.

You've got to think Dodo is on his last warning at this point, though.

With one Palace defender on the scoresheet, another just tried to repeat the feat.

Jaydee Canvot picked the ball up inside his own half and embarked on a swashbuckling run that took him all the way to the edge of the Fiorentina penalty area, but his shot was weakly hit and easy for De Gea.

It took them a few chances to finally find the net, but Palace have doubled their lead.

Munoz ghosts in behind the Fiorentina back line and volleys across goal. Mateta should bury the chance, but De Gea saves well with his feet.

The loose ball falls for Tyrick Mitchell, who tucks the rebound in off the back post and Palace are in dreamland.

Palace are purring now. Whenever they attack they look capable of opening up the Fiorentina defence, and another great move does exactly that.

Munoz finds Sarr, who swings in a teasing back-post cross. Guessand arrives late, but can't quite get up high enough to make contact. If he gets up well and puts his forehead on it, it's almost certainly 2-0.

Just a little housekeeping from that penalty incident. Dodo, the man who committed the foul, was booked.

There was a long wait for the kick to be taken, but Jean-Philippe Mateta was the coolest man inside Selhurst Park as he calmly put David De Gea the wrong way and passed the ball into the net.

Palace lead 1-0!

The VAR is still checking the incident, but TNT Sports' pundit Robbie Savage is no doubt.

"I think it's a great decision," he said.

"It's a foul. It's a late challenge, I think that is a penalty."

Guessand is through on goal about to shoot at goal, but defender Dodo cleans him out at the same time.

The contact comes after Guessand's shot, but the referee is in no doubt, and points to the spot.

Palace are really starting to warm up now. After a half-chance from Mateta goes begging, in the very next attack, Ismalia Sarr picks up the ball, charges forward, then tries his luck from 25 yards.

His effort goes wide of the post, but it's another example of Palace pushing forward and putting the pressure on.

Palace force some good pressure with a sustained period of possession and the ball goes wide to Munoz on the right. He fizzes a ball across the six-yard box and Guessand gets a boot on it. His redirected effort spins agonisingly wide with De Gea beaten.

Fiorentina get their first sight of goal, and it's the left back Gosens, who arrives late onto a pass that ais absolutely begging to be struck first-time.

Gosens duly obliges, but gets the connection all wrong and skews his shot well wide of the target.

Daniel Munoz is already enjoying a LOT of room wide on the Palace right flank, and his deep delivery to the back post offered an early chance for Jean-Philippe Mateta.

It was a superb cross, but the big Frenchman headed wide of the back post.

A positive early sign for Palace, though – they're getting plenty of room to work in wide areas.
