After Le Golf National treated us to a thrilling men's stroke play event last week, the stage is set for the women to compete for gold in the women's stroke play – but who is in the field for the tournament, and what is the format?
Last week's men's tournament felt like the true beginning for golf at the Olympic Games as world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler charged from behind to win gold for the USA.
Southport's Tommy Fleetwood finished one shot behind and win silver for Team GB, while the home crowd rallied around the efforts of French hope Victor Perez, who narrowly missed out on the medal positions.
When did the women's golf begin at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games?
Golf was introduced to the Olympics for the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro, but got off to a stuttering start after the Zica virus forced a number of notable names to pull out of the tournament. The second edition of the tournament fell flat after the Covid-19 pandemic meant no fans could attend either the men's or women's stroke play in Tokyo back in 2021.
The women's stroke play at Paris 2024 began a week after the men's, with the tournament beginning on Thursday, 7 August and concluding on Sunday, 10 August.
The French crowd had plenty to shout about on the first day of the women's event, with France's Celine Boutier posting a eye-catching opening round of 65 (-7) to take the solo lead after day one.

The most notable name in the field is the defending gold medalist from Tokyo, USA's Nelly Korda.
Korda has had an historic year, reaching the No. 1 rank in the world after winning five-straight events on the LPGA Tour. The win streak culminated with Korda's second major victory of her career at the Chevron Championship.

What is the format of the women's stroke play at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games
Like the men, the women's event is the typical 72-hole, four day stroke play format that we see so often in professional golf.
Each player will play one 18-hole round per day, with a sudden-death playoff scheduled to decide any ties for the medals.
There are only two golf events at the 2024 games, but a mixed team event including both men and women has been rumoured for the next Games to be held in Los Angeles in 2028.

Is there a cut in the women's golf stroke play at the Olympics?
Commonly in professional events, a cut takes place at the halfway point of competitions as half the field is eliminated from the tournament after the second round.
This is not the case in Paris, with no cut taking place in the events at Le Golf National.
Who leads the women's golf stroke play?
Switzerland's Morgane Metraux and New Zealand's Lydia Ko lead the way at Le Golf National, both sitting at -9 with 18 holes the play.
Metraux stromed into the lead on Thursday after posting a second rough 66 (-6) to claim the solo lead, but back-to-back rounds of 67 and 68 have propelled Ko into contention for the gold medal.
Ko, a two-time major winner, will look to add a gold medal to her sizable victory haul, while Metraux is searching for the third professional win of her young career.
World no.1 Nelly Korda sits five shots behind at -4, with the American's triple bogey on Thursday afternoon on the 16th potentially proving fatal to her goal of defending the gold medal she won three years ago in Tokyo.
American teammate Rose Zhang looks set to be the United States' best hope of a medal, sitting two shots behind the leaders at -7. The 21-year-old phenom only turned professional last year after a sparkling college career at Stanford University, but already has two LPGA Tour wins to her name.
Fellow 21-year-old, Thailand's Atthaya Thitikul sits in 5th place at -4, while Japan's Miyu Yamashita will look to make a charge on Saturday from three shots back of the leaders.
Team GB will require a historic round from either Georgia Hall or Charley Hull, with the two Brits sitting 12 and 14 shots off the lead respectively.
