Reigning champion Chimaev will put his title and undefeated record on the line when he steps into the octagon to face Strickland, a former world champion himself.

Chimaev won the middleweight UFC title when he beat Dricus du Plessis via unanimous decision in August last year. His bout against Strickland will be his first defence of the belt.

Chimaev, the No. 3 pound-for-pound ranked fighter according to UFC ratings, is 15-0 in his professional career.

Facing him will be Strickland, who is 30-7 in his MMA career.

One of the more controversial figures in the sport, Strickland won the middleweight UFC title by beating Israel Adesanya at UFC 293 in 2023.

However, he lost the belt to Du Plessis in his first title defence months later and, in a rematch against the South African last year, Strickland failed to reclaim champion status as he lost via unanimous decision.

He bounced back from that defeat to Du Plessis in impressive style though, beating Anthony Hernandez in Houston in February this year to earn himself a shot at the title once again.

UFC 328 will also feature a flyweight championship title bout, with champion Joshua Van defending against Tatsuro Taira of Japan.

The pair had initially been scheduled to fight at UFC 327 in April but Van withdrew due to an injury.
