Marco Bezzecchi discharged from hospital with 'no injuries' after huge Grand Prix Netherlands crash at Assen

Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi was hospitalized after a high-speed crash at Grand Prix Netherlands on Sunday in Assen. He was later discharged following tests and "no injuries were found," according to the Italian team.

Bezzecchi had started in third place on the grid, and he was looking to go better than his fourth place in Saturday’s Sprint as he faced a challenge from his team-mate Jorge Martin, who started both events on pole position.
Martin ultimately finished in third spot, with Trackhouse repeating Saturday’s one-two, albeit with positions reversed.
Raul Fernandez was second and Ai Ogura was first for his maiden MotoGP win, but Bezzecchi failed to finish after a huge early crash.
Bezzecchi skidded out at high speed at Turn 15 during the second lap and there were immediate concerns over his health, though he was quickly reported to be conscious.
His Aprilia team released a statement to confirm the situation for the rider, who is now second in the championship after Martin overtook him in the title race for the 2026 MotoGP championship.

"Following his crash during the Dutch Grand Prix, Marco Bezzecchi was immediately taken to the circuit’s Medical Centre, where he underwent a thorough evaluation by the medical staff, including MotoGP medical director Dr Angel Charte," the Aprilia statement confirmed.
"Initial clinical examinations confirmed that the rider is fully conscious, and displays normal mobility in all four limbs, with no immediate signs of major neurological or systemic complications.
"However, due to severe pain resulting from the high-energy impact, the medical team has elected to transfer Bezzecchi to Groningen Hospital [Universitair Medisch Centrum Groningen].
"This transfer will allow him to undergo comprehensive diagnostic imaging and specialised scans to definitively rule out any underlying injuries and ensure a safe recovery path."
It was later confirmed that Bezzecchi had left the hospital and was heading home to Italy.
A statement from MotoGP said: "Aprilia Racing have now confirmed that the #72 underwent CT scans and radiological examinations at the hospital, and no injuries were found. Therefore fit to be discharged from the hospital, he is now travelling back home to Italy."
Bezzecchi had failed to score any points in the previous round’s race at Grand Prix Czechia.

Another crash, in the Saturday Sprint, saw him physically confront a race marshal, leading to a ban for the following day’s race, meaning he had failed to score points in two consecutive full-length races - as other riders have closed in.
Martin - 'I was on the limit'
Martin praised the Trackhouse duo for their success of the weekend, but celebrated an "amazing" feeling to top the standings after a poor first season with Aprilia.
Martin said: "You know, the important thing for me was that today I did well compared to yesterday.
"I'm always trying to improve with Aprilia, and try to make the bike more suited to my riding style today.
"I have to congratulate Ai and Raul. They were really fast. I did my absolute best to try to keep with them until the end, but I was on the limit.
"Leader in the championship for me is an amazing feeling. I've been working so hard, and thank God and all my family, that they're always supporting me."
