Pedro Acosta unhappy with MotoGP season at KTM and 'wants more' after fourth-place finish - 'Fought for nothing'

Pedro Acosta appeared unhappy with his 2025 MotoGP season, saying his KTM team fought for "nothing". Acosta, 21, came fourth in his second season in MotoGP but said it was "missing a lot" and he has dreams of competing for the title, which was won by Marc Marquez. Acosta, who came fourth in the last race of the season in Valencia, is under contract until 2026.

Pedro Acosta finished the 2025 MotoGP season with five straight finishes in the top five and back-to-back second places in the Sprint races.
His fourth-place finish in Valencia to round off the campaign saw him end up fourth in the championship, an improvement on his rookie season when he was sixth.
But the 21-year-old was far from satisfied with his season.
KTM’s Acosta rated it as a five out of 10 and said in the end he fought for "nothing".
"I think now I’m giving everything on my part, I’m not crashing a lot, I’m not losing time, I’m not making many mistakes," he said.
"It’s quite difficult to manage everything because you cannot make a race perfectly.Â
"Again, even making a race perfectly, our limit is the podium and even not [always] for this. We have to check it."
He continued: "We improved, but we fight for nothing. I said clearly when I signed for KTM that I was wanting to fight for the championship, and for what did we fight? For nothing."
Acosta looked set to end his second season in MotoGP with a podium in Valencia before being passed by Fabio Di Giannantonio on the penultimate lap.
He acknowledged that the finish to the season was better than the start - which saw a 19th place and a retirement in the first three races - but wants more in the future.
"For how I started this championship that, before Jerez, I was 11th, was not a bad comeback, a lot of consistency inside the top five.
"But it’s missing a lot. I came here with a dream to try to fight for the championship, and this is not what we got at the end.Â

"It’s true that we get a really good result, really good consistency, but it’s not enough. I learned a lot, I get much better as a rider, more consistency, I know what is my place.
"But now I want more."
Acosta moved to the factory Red Bull KTM team at the start of the season and is under contract until 2026.
There has been speculation about whether he will stay with KTM or move elsewhere in 2027.
Marc Marquez was crowned MotoGP champion despite missing the last four races of the season due to injury.
Brother Alex was second in the standings ahead of Aprilia Racing’s Marco Bezzecchi and Acosta.
