Four-time champions Australia will not contest the netball gold medal match for the first time after they suffered a shock 46-45 defeat to Jamaica at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games on Saturday.

The Sunshine Girls produced an inspired performance and withstood a last-gasp rally to stun the defending champions at the Games.
Jamaica, who were beaten 55-51 when the sides contested the 2022 final, established control over the opening two quarters, with Romelda Aiken (29 goals from 32 attempts) and Shanice Beckford (17 from 18) clinical in attack.
Australia rallied in the second half and, having clawed their way back to level, edged their noses ahead for the first time at the start of the fourth quarter.
However, an untimely lapse in concentration from captain Liz Watson enabled Jamaica to turn the ball over and restore a four-goal cushion at 46-42.
The Diamonds managed to get one of their own inside the final minute, and launched a last-gasp bid to maintain their record of securing at least a top-two finish at every Games.
Yet Sophie Dwyer missed a penalty shot right at the death, and a raucous Jamaica celebrated an historic win.
