Benjamin Kayser is concerned that Wales’ Autumn Nations Series clash with South Africa could be a "bloodbath" and joked that their best hope might be "to divert the bus."

The crisis facing Warren Gatland’s side has deepened this autumn, with back-to-back defeats to Fiji and Australia stretching their run of defeats to an all-time Welsh record of 11 in a row.

With Wales approaching the game as huge underdogs, TNT Sports host Ugo Monye asked former France international Kayser how the hosts could tackle the game.

"You might want to try to divert the bus! That’s how bad this is," Kayser said.

"I don’t want to be shooting a wounded animal, but clearly Wales rugby is in jeopardy.

"Wales are in trouble, they have some huge issues, and the performances just are not there.

"When you have the double world champions coming over, with such an amount of power, skill and pace, the steps of Cheslin Kolbe, they frighten the world at the moment. So of course Wales are going to be frightened.

"It’s also just a game of rugby. You have the pride and honour of representing your country. I’m sure the Welshmen will do the jersey proud.

"But it will be such a tremendous ask to beat the double world reigning champions at home. I think it’s going to be too much. It could be a bloodbath, but I don’t wish it upon them."

Scotland face 'must-win' against Wallabies

The must-watch game of the final full weekend of Autumn Nations Series action looks like being further north in Edinburgh, where Scotland host in-form Australia on Sunday.

Gregor Townsend’s Scots go into the game after beating Fiji and Portugal but losing to the Springboks, while the Wallabies are on a high after back-to-back wins over England and Wales.

"It feels for Scotland like it’s a must-win for them. They got defeated by the Springboks, but everyone is frightened of them," Kayser said.

"It’s a make-or-break moment, they have got to turn it around, especially at home, and dispose of the Wallabies.

"But the Wallabies, three years ago everyone was laughing at them, saying the world of rugby was unbalanced because Australia was not there, simply nowhere to be seen.

"They are clearly back, they have got pace, accuracy, youth players, and I would like to applaud them for their win against England, just for the audacity and passion they had to snatch that win."
