England stay perfect with 10-try romp of Wales to seal Women's Six Nations Triple Crown as Italy beat Scotland

In front of a record 26,000-strong crowd at Ashton Gate, the Red Roses extended their record-breaking Test winning run to 36, despite allowing their opponents to claim a losing bonus point.

England threatened to run away with the Guinness Women's Six Nations contest inside the opening 10 minutes and, although early chances went begging, their attacking depth soon told.

The bonus point was wrapped up before the half-hour mark and they led comfortably at the break, with captain Meg Jones scoring two tries. Back rows Maddie Feaunati and Marlie Packer crossed over, either side of winger Millie David marking her international debut with a score of her own.

Any hope of a Welsh resurgence was extinguished after the interval, with Amy Cokayne, Moloney-MacDonald and Jess Breach dotting down before Packer added her second try of the afternoon.

This was Wales' 12th defeat in 13 Tests and an eighth straight loss in the competition, leaving them at the foot of the table. But after a suffocating start, they grew into the game.

Tries from Keira Bevan and Kelsey Jones reflected flickers of defiance while Jaz Joyce produced a try-saving tackle. When Wales conceded just once while temporarily reduced to 14 players, they grew further in confidence.

Late tries from captain Bethan Lewis and Seren Lockwood secured a deserved bonus point and sparked visible emotion, but England had long-since established an unassailable lead.

England's attack coach Emily Scarratt told the BBC: "You're always in a Test match against Wales. They're so competitive, they're always passionate about wearing the shirt. Credit to them, but we still got a pretty good job done.

"It wasn't perfect, some of it just didn't come off. Conceding four tries is always a little bit daunting."

With 24 points, Wales secured their highest-ever score against England in a women's international, surpassing their previous highest total of 22 set in 1997.

Wales captain Bethan Lewis said: "We know we're not the finished article but we're making progress. To get a try-scoring bonus point, I don't think anyone has done it against England in the Six Nations since 2023. We've got more to do but we can be proud of aspects of our performance. We showed great character.

"The bench coming on brought incredible energy to get the two tries at the end. The young talent we've got coming through, Seren Lockwood at the end. We're showing character and progressing. We're closing that gap against the top team in the world."

Meanwhile, Italy secured their first victory of this year's tournament as Scotland were beaten 41-14 in Parma.

Scotland captain Rachel Malcolm was ruled out just before kick-off through injury and the hosts took full advantage as Alyssa D'Inca and Vittoria Zanette both dotted down twice, adding to an Aura Muzzo score, all before half-time.

Vittoria Vecchini added a sixth Italian try but the hosts were then reduced to 13 players whenVeronica Madia and Elisa Giordano were sent to the sin-bin. It allowed the visitors to reply through Lana Skeldon - but Italy added a try themselves through Giordana Duca while still two players down.

Molly Poolman scored a late consolation try for the Scots and stand-in skipper Skeldon told the BBC: "I don't think we are quite there, we have not put in an 80-minute performance yet.

"You have seen glimpses of what we are capable of in the last three games. We are working to get that 80-minute performance, but it's not quite there yet.

"I've learned a lot from today, and going forwards it will pay dividends if we end up in that situation. The fallow week is a good chance for a reset, winning or losing, we will just reset, re-calibrate and hopefully come back stronger."

It was Italy's first Six Nations win since a 44-12 victory over Wales on April 27 last year and it was enough to temporarily move them up to third in the table on six points before Ireland's trip to face France later on Saturday.

Ireland returned to that spot with a losing bonus point despite a 26-7 defeat away to Les Bleues, having led early on thanks to Cliodhna Moloney-MacDonald's try. But the hosts fought back in Clermont, running in four tries to remain behind England only on points difference.
