Gloucester scrum-half Tomos Williams has been ruled out for a "little while" after suffering an injury on international duty with Wales.

Ahead of the return of Gallagher Premiership rugby this weekend, live on TNT Sports and discovery+, Gloucester director of rugby George Skivington revealed that Williams will miss Saturday’s trip to champions Northampton Saints with a shoulder injury.

"Tommy won't be playing for a little while, he's got a rehab process to go through, so I'm hopeful it won't be too long, but there's not an exact timescale on him," Skivington said.

He added: "It's not terrible, obviously we'd like him back sooner rather than later. It's a bang to his shoulder which is as much as I can tell you."

The shoulder injury was sustained in Wales’ opening Autumn Nations Series defeat to Fiji.

It ruled Williams out of the remaining November Tests for Wales as Warren Gatland’s side suffered defeats to Australia and South Africa to set a record of 12 consecutive losses, including all 11 of their games in 2024.

The focus will now return to club matters, with Gloucester facing a big month ahead in the Premiership and Challenge Cup.

After Saturday’s trip to Northampton, live on TNT Sports and discovery+ at 15:00 UK time, Gloucester have a European double-header at home to Edinburgh and away to Vannes before facing Harlequins, Exeter and Sale over the festive period.

The Cherry and Whites currently sit sixth in the standings after six rounds of Premiership action, with two wins and four defeats under their belt, putting them seven points outside the play-off spots.

Domestic rugby took a month-long break during the Autumn Nations Series, but Gloucester fans will hope the return is a happy one after suffering a record 90-0 defeat against Saints last season.

"A huge number of those boys are now a make-up of the starting first team that has played the start of the season," Skivington said.

"They got some tough experience there, they saw the Premiership at its most ruthless but they all seem to have come through this year and are blossoming, and I'm really positive about that young group.

"Never forget that game, I don't think anybody will."
