Matt Weston is still trying to process his historic performances at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games, saying "I can't believe it's real" after winning a second gold medal.

With the men's skeleton gold medal already around his neck, Weston - alongside Tabitha Stoecker - claimed victory in the mixed team event on an historic Super Sunday for Team GB.

The 28-year-old etched his name in the history books by becoming the first British athlete to win two gold medals in a single Winter Games.

He is also now Great Britain's joint-most decorated Winter Olympian with the same number of medals as fellow skeleton racer Lizzy Yarnold.

"What’s going on?! It has been a massive whirlwind for me over the past couple of days," a disbelieving Weston told TNT Sports.

"I actually can’t really believe it's real. I can’t really speak, it’s crazy. It’s amazing, I’m so happy."

Team GB were trailing German pair Axel Jungk and Susanne Kreher by 0.3 seconds following Stoecker's run, with the pressure on Weston to bring home gold.

Weston showed why he is the best in the world as he sped down in a time of 58.59secs to secure victory.

"[I had] no idea [of the time difference]," Weston said.

"Where I am at the top of the track, I deliberately put my helmet low enough so that I can’t see what the person in front of me has done.

"I was just focusing on, and it sounds funny, but being boring. Just get the job done, don’t do anything silly. Literally tick those boxes and hopefully it would have been enough. It turns out it was."

Weston, who broke the track record four times on his run to gold in the men's individual event, added another one to his name alongside Stoecker.

The pair crossed the line in 1:59.36, which was 0.17s quicker than Jungk and Kreher, while fellow Germans Christopher Grotheer and Jacqueline Pfeifer took bronze ahead of GB's Marcus Wyett and Freya Tarbit.

For Stoecker, it was a sensational response to finishing fourth in the women's individual event on Saturday.

"I can't believe it, I can't believe it," the tearful 25-year-old told TNT Sports. "It's fine, these are happy tears. What a way to finish my first Olympic Games with a gold medal."

She added: "I’m really happy. I had a decent run, my reaction start wasn’t the best, which was quite surprising to find out at the bottom.

"That’s not what it’s about. It's just about having a decent run, getting the time down and then leaving it up to Matt to bring it home."
