Kyren Wilson secured his eighth ranking title when comprehensively outpointing Judd Trump to win the Northern Ireland Open championship. Wilson has taken his game to a new level in the past 12 months, and he feels himself and Trump are great for the sport as they can take the game on from the Class of '92 of Ronnie O'Sullivan, John Higgins and Mark Williams.

Kyren Wilson said his burgeoning rivalry with Judd Trump is good for snooker, with the sport needing to find new stars to follow in the footsteps of Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Williams and John Higgins.
Wilson, the current world champion, produced a stunning performance to demolish Trump 9-3 and win the Northern Ireland Open title.
It was Wilson’s second title of the season, the same number as Trump, and they are the top two players in the world.
O’Sullivan has been absent from the sport for a number of tournaments, and Higgins and Williams are not the consistent forces of old.
Wilson feels snooker has to look to the future, and believes they can take the game forward.
“To be as dominant as he [Trump] has been with the level of standard on tour is absolutely phenomenal,” Wilson said on Eurosport. “I don’t know where he gets his stamina from, it has got to be applauded and he makes me raise my game.
“We can’t keep relying on the Class of '92 all the time, so I am glad I am up there with him [Trump]. It is good for the future of snooker.”

Trump had words of praise for Wilson, saying his younger rival is keeping him sharp.
"Kyren was too good today,” Trump said. “The way he has bounced back after winning the World Championship is inspiring.
“It is nice to see someone kick on from that and hopefully in the future we can have many more battles.”
