The table has presented itself nicely for Zhang, who springs to his feet in anticipation after Higgins' red barely even catches the jaw.

And it is, once again, a prolific visit. Zhang really not at the races but he knows if he makes a mistake, it will likely be punished.
Strong stuff from John. Breaks of 95, 78 and 60 so far tonight, and looks good for a quarter-final spot.

He looks good for a frame-winning contribution but, uncharacteristically sends the black ball crashing out the top left.
And here is an opportunity for Zhang... but he misses with the rest.

Zhang kicks off with a lovely red and gets himself back among the balls for the first time in a while. But when he goes into the pack, a red rattles the jaws, and here we go again with Higgins looking to pounce once more.

Zhang looking good for a handsome lead here with a nice red to middle. He's a bit straight on black but you'd expect him to make a good fist of it.

The points begin to flow but only as a result of a few misses from John as a Zhang snooker reaps some reward.
Higgins finds the solution, with Zhang in the lead, despite not potting for 20 minutes.

But the white doesn't roll far enough to make the brown convenient, though he waves it on, so it's a safety, the match still in the balance.

Neil can't get it done at this visit, playing a safety that leaves the white near the green bag, and Jak's response leaves him a go at a nasty one to right corner ... which he sees away! Superb Hawkins sees off Williams
It's been a lean couple of years for Barry Hawkins, but he produced some excellent snooker in seeing off three-time champion, Mark Williams, in a high-quality last-16 tussle. Twice, Williams went ahead and twice, Hawkins hauled him back, both men playing fine safety and potting nicely. The crucial moment, though, came in frame five, when the Welshman deployed the spider to sink a recovery-pot, only to go in-off. From there, Hawkins cleared to black, then in the next got in early and finished the match, setting up a quarter-final encounter with Jak Jones or Neil Roberston.

Yup, it looked a good chance at the time and it still looks like one now. Mark started well yesterday, but his level gradually dropped, while Barry is looking to inject impetus into a season that, so far, has been something of a non-event. A good showing here would help him address that.
