World No. 1 Judd Trump’s bid for a second Crucible crown will have to wait until 2027, as he fell to Hossein Vafaei, who was beaten by Wu in the quarter-finals.

When is the World Snooker Championship?

Qualification for the tournament began on Monday, April 6 and concluded on Wednesday, April 15.

The World Championship proper got underway from Saturday, April 18 and will run to Monday, May 4.

The final is over two days, Sunday, May 3 and Monday, May 4.

The top-16 seeds for the World Championship were locked in mid-way through the Tour Championship, with defending champion Zhao the No. 1 seed.

Did Ronnie O’Sullivan compete at the World Snooker Championship?

O’Sullivan, a seven-time World Championship winner, got his campaign at the Crucible underway, storming to victory in style.

The Rocket admitted last month that he ”probably” would take part in the event, after an upturn in form, and he did not disappoint, beating He Guoqiang 10-2 on Wednesday, April 22.

His challenge came to an end against John Higgins in the second round.
