Kyren Wilson and Zhang Anda played out arguably the match of the 2025 Masters so far at Alexandra Palace, a tight battle which the world champion eventually clinched with a clinical display, despite some inspired long potting from the Chinese snooker star. And the pair of proficient potters sent the capacity Ally Pally crowd into raptures with a highly amusing exchange during the fourth frame.

The bumper Alexandra Palace crowd will feel their money has been well spent following a scintillating clash between Kyren Wilson and Zhang Anda in the Masters first round on Wednesday.

Aside from Zhang's inspired long pots, Wilson's dramatic steals and a fantastic 141 break by the world No. 10 - the highest of the tournament so far - those in attendance were also treated to a fantastic exchange between the two in the fourth frame.

With Zhang 2-1 down but 64-0 up in the frame, the world champion had it all to do in order to somehow steal a two-frame cushion going into the interval.

But The Warrior spurned a fantastic chance for a fruitful visit when a simple-looking red crashed off the jaws of the bottom left - leaving Zhang the chance to clear up for parity in the match.

The 2023 International Championship winner, though, would have to nudge the red into the bottom left via the right cushion - as the cue ball was awkwardly placed adjacent to another red.

As Zhang paced around the table, weighing up what would be an important move, Wilson exclaimed from his chair: "Re-rack!"

It was a speculative shout. For Zhang, this awkward pot would surely set him on his way to 2-2 going into the break. At 64-0 up, it was never going to happen.

And as the Chinese star finally pulled the trigger, his effort carefully grazed his intended target, only pushing it closer to the pocket - in prime position for Wilson to launch a steal.

It was a horrendously frustrating strike for Zhang, who had wowed the Ally Pally faithful with some remarkable potting, scoring handsomely and out-pointing his opponent.

But he took the missed chance in his stride, and upon his journey back to his seat - where he would eventually see Wilson clear up for a 3-1 lead - he amusingly remarked that he would now take up his opponent's offer for a re-rack.

The tide had now turned, and it was now Wilson's turn to laugh away suggestions of a frame reset.

But it was a sign of good respect between the two competitors, and they played out a viciously competitive clash which Wilson eventually claimed 6-4, sealing route to a quarter-final against Luca Brecel.

For Zhang, it was a display with which he will ultimately be frustrated, having posted 712 points to Wilson's 437, potting 77 more balls than the world champion, and yielding higher percentages in safety success, pot success and long pot success.
