Wilson maintained his bid to retain the Shanghai Masters title on Tuesday as he beat five-time winner Ronnie O'Sullivan, who beat local wild card Linhao Liu 6-1 in the opening round on Monday.

The tournament format means the top eight seeds progressed directly to the last 16, including Wilson, world No. 1 Judd Trump and reigning Crucible champion Wu Yize. The remaining 16 players competed in the opening round for a place in the knockout stages.
Chinese star Ding Junhui will be aiming to make a deep run on home soil. The three-time UK Championship winner also beat a wildcard opponent on Monday to set up a last-16 meeting with compatriot and 2025 World Championship winner Zhao Xintong.
