Wilson sunk the pink in the bottom right pocket as he rattled off 84 during the fourth frame of his meeting with Williams.
Up 2-1 at the time, Wilson clipped a red with the follow-through that set up a poor shot.
And in frustration, Wilson swung his cue around his head, a reaction that ultimately drew laughter and applause from those in attendance in Shanghai.
"I'll tell you what, if you do that in the Crucible, you'd have someone's eye out in the front row!" Dave Hendon outlined following the incident. Thankfully, here, the crowd are a little further away."
Wilson had hoped to kick off the fourth frame with a century as he looked to progress to the semi-finals of the Shanghai Masters.
"Wanted to make a century... 84 will do though," Hendon continued ahead of the interval.
