He claimed the 20 points, ahead of Great Britain’s Robert Lambert and Poland’s Bartosz Zmarzlik.
It was not the first time Thomsen has celebrated in such a way. After claiming his maiden Speedway Grand Prix victory in Gorzow, Poland, in 2022, he also stripped down to his pants and rode a lap of honour.
”Anders Thomsen, I can assure you, won’t let us down,” TNT Sports commentator Kelvin Tatum joked as the rider cast off his leather race suit. ”Everybody will be very keen.
”A bit of celebration, a real showman after a fantastic victory for him and his family. Not sure everyone is going to be totally convinced by his celebration here, but he doesn’t care.
”We’ve seen it once before. It’s very much a repeat of what we saw four years ago in Gorzow but fair play to him. And fair play to the organisers for allowing it. Fantastic. You’ve got to love that.
”It makes the celebration lap of Bartosz Zmarzlik and Robert Lambert look very tame indeed.”
Oliver Allen added: ”Anders Thomsen. The man of the night. In his underwear, Anders Thomsen with one of the most risque victory laps you’re ever likely to see.”
Thomsen's dramatic evening saw him scrape into the Last Chance Qualifier on eight points before progressing from gate three.
He then stormed around the outside from gate four in the final to secure the 20 points.
After the race, an elated Thomsen said: ”I’ve not really processed it, I guess.
”I put everything in tonight, because I go on holiday tomorrow. I was like, ‘Okay, let’s do it.’
”I gave everything I had. The team as well. What an amazing feeling. I want to thank my family and of course, my girlfriend for this. I’m really proud and happy.
”It’s great to see so many Danish people here tonight. To the Danish people - thank you so much for coming.”
He continued: ”I haven’t been feeling the Grand Prix for the last few years and I couldn’t really find myself in it.
”I was doing a good job in the Ekstraliga and in the Danish league, but in the Grand Prix I couldn’t get it together. So I’m so happy. Everything went my way today.
”It is [an emotional moment] because I thought I was finished in the Grand Prix. My focus was completely on the leagues. Today I went into the meeting with no pressure, thinking, ‘Smile and let’s do what we can.’
”And we found a good set up. It’s so good. So good.”
