Novak Djokovic has announced he will not compete at the ATP Finals in Turin due to an "ongoing injury."
The defending champion and 24-time Grand Slam winner has not played on the ATP Tour since losing to Jannik Sinner in the final of the Shanghai Masters last month, though he was fit to take part in the Six Kings Slam in Saudi Arabia.
In a post on Instagram, Djokovic said he "was really looking forward to being there, but due to ongoing injury I won't be playing next week."
Five players had already earned their spots amongst the top eight which will compete at the season-ending ATP Finals, which begins on Sunday, November 10, though Djokovic was on the verge of joining them barring a specific set of results this week.
Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev and Taylor Fritz had also secured their places, but Djokovic's withdrawal means the line-up is now complete with Casper Ruud, Alex de Minaur and Andrey Rublev joining them in Italy.
Djokovic would have been going for an eighth ATP Finals title, having won his first in 2008.

Rafael Nadal is set to retire this month at the Davis Cup Finals, joining Roger Federer and Andy Murray in ending their careers.
The 37-year-old has struggled with injury throughout the season. He was forced to withdraw from the French Open due to a knee injury but recovered from surgery on a torn miniscus in time for Wimbledon a month later.
Djokovic reached the final at the All England Club but lost in straight sets to Alcaraz, before finally winning Olympic gold in Paris against the same opponent.
